Chapter 2:I'm always wrong, but you're never right

As soon as we’re both settled and about to leave, I saw BB running out of the garage, tripping on her heels. Panicking, I lock my door and turn towards Jace. “My mom just texted me. I have to be home,” I say looking at my watch. “Like…now.”

He nods and turns towards his window, rolling it down. “Hey babe, we have to go. Jason will give you a ride home.” He smiles as behind him he hears Jason groan. I laugh; see I’m not the only one who doesn’t like her.

Jace doesn’t say a word the whole ride, until we come to a stoplight about ten minutes later. Logan lives further out in the country, that’s why the band decided to pick Logan’s family’s 85 acre ranch for practice. No neighbors to complain about the noise. We all live pretty far out in the countryside, most of our families having ranches of their own as well.

At the stoplight, he turns towards me. “Alright, I know you don’t have to be home. Your parents are out of town…for like the nth time this month.” He says matter-of-factly. I look away, suddenly interested in the scratch on his dashboard.

“I know, I just didn’t want to deal with Barbie B*tch. You sure know how to pick’em.” I finish my voice laced with sarcasm. He laughs at my nickname for his girlfriend for a minute but becomes serious again

“What happened with you and Klarissa anyway?” He asks. Oh! So that’s her name!! I sigh dramatically, earning an aggravated look form Jace. When I’m still silent he decides to use his puppy dog face. “Aw c’mon Jace that’s not fair.” I pout.

He smirks, “No one said I played fair, baby doll.” I sigh again and tell him everything, from me minding my own business to BB’s comments and digs at my friendship with the guys. By the time I was done, I find we’re already at Jace’s house; I can see Jason’s Charger in the driveway.

I sigh once again, and turn to get out of the truck. Before I can even get my hand on the handle, Jace grabs my arm and pulls me towards him into a tight hug. “Hey, you know she’s just being a B**** right?” he asks into my hair. I nod weakly, but it’s a nod none the less. “Look at me. You are my very best friend, in the entire world. I won’t let anybody talk to you like that and get away with it. C’mon lets go.” He says tugging me out of the truck.

“Raiyna-Leigh Cassidy Rivera-Cruz!” I spin around at the use of my full name, convinced I’m in trouble. Only to be swept up by Jason, and spun around. Yes I go by my middle name, the only people who call me by my first name are my parents and Jace’s older brother Jayme; and he only gets away with it because he’s twenty-one and can pin me in seconds.

“Jason Alexander Hunt.” I reply, seriously when he puts me down. He frowns since he hates his full name just as much as I do, but brushes it off quickly replacing it with a huge grin.

“Rainey! I love you so much. You my dear are the awesomest person I have EVER met. The way you snapped back at Klarissa was epic! I told Jessica and she practically fell off of her chair laughing.” He sweeps me into a hug again, and I struggle to get away from his death-grip once again.
