"Okay! Who's up next?!" Feli chimed, holding up the karaoke mic. "Anyone?"
Every Saturday night, you and your boyfriend, Alfred, went with Feli, Kiku, and Arthur to the karaoke bar. It didn't seem to be going too well tonight since Feli and you had been the only ones so far to sing. Arthur had a few too many drinks and whenever that happened, well all he wanted to sing was love songs and that just ended with him breaking down and crying. No one had any idea why Kiku came since he rarely ever sang. Guess he just liked watching everyone else make a fool of themselves. You were just about to go again when Alfred jumped up and said "Let the hero take a shot at it!"
Everyone groaned but you. Honestly, Alfred couldn't sing if it were to save his life but you'd never tell him that. Karaoke was about having fun not staying on key. Besides, it was a change. You and Alfred had been going out for about a year and you were head over heels for the obnoxious American. Sure, he was loud and always spoke his mind (which often got him in even more trouble) but he loved you and everyone knew it. He got up and took the mic from Feli while he flipped through the songs.
"Alright! Here we go!" He shouted as a familiar song began playing through the speakers.
It's too late baby, there's no turning around
I got my hands in my pocket and my head in a cloud
This is how I do
When I think about you
I never thought that you could break me apart
I keep a sinister smile and a hold of my heart
You want to get inside
Then you can get in line
But not this time
Cause you caught me off guard
Now I'm running and screaming
I feel like a hero and you are my heroine
I won't try to philosophize
I'll just take a deep breath then I'll look in your eyes
This is how I feel
And it's so surreal
I got a closet filled up to the brim
With the ghosts of my past and their skeletons
And I don't know why
You'd even try
But I won't lie
You caught me off guard
Now I'm running and screaming
I feel like a hero and you are my heroine
Do you know that your love is the sweetest sin?
And I feel a weakness coming on
It never felt so good to be so wrong
Had my heart on lockdown
And then you turned me around
And I'm feeling like a newborn child
Every time I get a chance to see you smile
It's not complicated
I was so jaded
And you caught me off guard
Now I'm running and screaming
I feel like a hero and you are my heroine
Do you know that your love is the sweetest sin?
At this point you couldn't contain yourself anymore. You jumped up on stage and began singing with Alfred. You got lost in his ice blue eyes and forgot about the rest of the world. (He sang the ones in parentheses)
(I feel like a hero and you are my heroine)
And I feel a weakness coming on
It never felt so good to be so wrong
Had my heart on lockdown
And then you turned me around
(Do you know that your love is the sweetest sin?)
And I'm feeling like a newborn child
Every time I get a chance to see you smile
It's not complicated
I was so jaded
(I feel like a hero and you are my heroine)
And I feel a weakness coming on
It never felt so good to be so wrong
Had my heart on lockdown
And then you turned me around
(Do you know that your love is the sweetest sin?)
And I'm feeling like a newborn child
Every time I get a chance to see you smile
It's not complicated
I was so jaded
When the song ended, everyone cheered. Only because it ment Alfred would get off the stage. He was so airheaded, he'd never know the difference and you giggled at the thought. You both sat back down in your seats and he put his arm around you and kissed you sweetly.
"Thanks for the backup, my heroine."
You grinned and reached up for another kiss. "Anything for my hero."
You felt Alfred's head move forward and looked up to see that Arthur had smacked him across the back of the head.
"You bloody fool! Do you have to do that damn song every time you're here?!"
