Dean got back late from a hunt. It had been two months since Sam died, and Dean hadn't heard from Castiel in weeks. Dean opened his car door and stretched as he got out, carrying a burger and a case of beer with him. He used a slightly rusty key to open the door to the motel room, the smell of dust and mold filling his nostrils. He walked towards the small table, opened a beer, and slouched into an uncomfortable creaky chair. He felt empty.
Sometimes people hide all that's wrong with them, Dean Winchester is very good at that, but sometimes all that's wrong with someone comes crashing down all at once, Dean Winchester is very familiar with that. He took a gulp of his alcohol and let the thoughts flood in.
You're worthless.
You've killed innocent people.
You are disgusting.
No one loves you.
You deserve to die.He finished the bottle, and was just about to open another when he noticed Castiel sitting across from him, causing him to drop the empty bottle allowing it to break on the dirt stained floor.
"Son of a bi-" he started
"Dean, why are you crying?" Castiel interrupted. Dean looked at the broken glass on the floor, not noticing he had been crying.
"I wasn't crying, Cas." He lied
"Dean, I am thousands of years old, I'm not easily fooled. Also your face is wet and your eyes are puffy." Castiel replied
"Listen, Cas, buddy it isn't important. Do you have any leads?"
"Are you trying to tell me you aren't important?" Castiel's eyes lost a bit of light as he said this.
"I'm not important" Dean thought "it just isn't a big deal, okay?" His voice cracked, and a tear slid down his cheek.
Castiel stared at Dean's face "It is a big deal to me" Another tear raced down Dean's face.
"I let him die. It's my fault. He isn't coming back this time." He choked out. Dean looked up to see Castiel hadn't stopped focusing on his face. His gaze met Castiel's blue eyes as tears poured from his green eyes.
"It isn't your fault." The room went silent for moment. Castiel inched closer to Dean.
"I have no one left. No one loves me" Dean whispered. Castiel stood up and walked over to where the other man was sitting, pulled him out of his seat, and straightened him up.
"You have me Dean." Castiel told him. "I love you" a tear escaped from Castiel's eye as Dean Winchester fell into him. Letting it all go and embracing his best friend. Both men fell to the dirty floor in a hug. Not letting the other escape. Dean moved his head from Castiel's chest to look up into his blue eyes, after taking a glance at his lips.
"I love you too Cas." Dean said breathlessly as the angel pressed his lips against Deans.
