Another AlexaxDevon (DeXa?) oneshot. Originally it was gonna be longer, so the first two sentences don't make that much sense, really. It's fluffy, yeah, but they're just friends in this oneshot.

It's also AU (Alternate Universe). They both go to High School and are around 17. The title makes sense once you read the end ^o^

It wasn’t exactly what you’d call love at first sight. No, quite the opposite, really. They had met for the first time in the crowded halls of their high school, barely avoiding colliding with each other before attempting to side-step around one another with mixed results. After a few awkward laughs, a couple of grimaces, and an annoyed glare from Alexa, they’d finally managed to get around each other.  And that had been it. They hadn’t felt any connection, hadn’t collided and become friends, hadn’t shared a romantic moment.

But that would all change months later when they met again.

Devon barely remembered the girl when they were introduced (although they weren’t so much introduced as left to awkwardly make small talk). As their friends chatted and laughed, Devon vaguely recalled seeing the girl – Alexa, was it? – around the school.

“So,” He’d said, smiling weakly at the girl who was currently sending not-so-subtle glares towards her friends “You go to St Jackals High?”

She’d been in a bitter mood at the time. “No shit, you’d think you would remember me from the amount of times we run into each other.”

Actually, he didn’t remember. Did he run into this girl a lot or something? She didn’t have to be so sarcastic, it was kind of uncalled for; well, two could play at this game.

“ ‘fraid I have trouble remembered all the girls that throw themselves at me by ‘bumping into me’. Guess you just can’t stay away from me, huh?” He made air-quotes with his fingers as he talked, a smirk lighting up his eyes.

That had been her first impression of Devon. A cocky, arrogant bastard. Full of himself. Probably a player. Typical boy. The list could have gone on forever, but rest assured that not a single kind word was on it. Alexa made sure of it.

She gritted her teeth as she responded, her tone cold. “Don’t be so damn full of yourself. Bastard. You think you’re so damn great? Because, news flash, you’re not!”

Devon’s lips parted slightly in surprise, eyebrows arching up in astonishment.

“Uh...” He had been called a bastard by a girl he’d just met – one he’d only spoken two sentences to, no less. He wasn’t sure whether to feel accomplished or insulted.

Alexa’s strained and slightly raised voice had caught their friend’s attention. Her friends looked embarrassed, sheepish; Devon’s surprised and somewhat amused.

“Well,” coughed one of Alexa’s friends – Leesha. “We’d better be going. See ya’s.”

And they were gone, leaving Devon to face his friends expectant gazes.

“What?” He shrugged “Not my fault she was PMSing or something.”

After that, she would scowl at him whenever they met in the hallway.  Devon shrugged it off - hey, she was the one being a bitch first. Her problem, not his; the notion that he’d made an enemy was lost on Devon.

Oddly enough, it turned out that she’d been right. He did run into her a lot, much to his dismay. It was probably inevitable that they would finally have a collision that ended up with one of them on the floor. Turns out that ‘one’ was Alexa.
