It's 12 am, and you're awake on the computer, reading Creepy Pastas, feeling chills on the back of your spine for every story you read. You decide to get up and stretch; since you've been sitting at your desk for a few hours reading. Then you look at the electronic clock by your bedside, showing the time 12:00 am.You decide to turn off the computer and go get some late night dinner, since you've grown an appetite. But in the corner of your eye you see a shadow outside your window; though you shrug it off as a trick of your eyes from being on the computer for too long. You walk out of your room and light the hallway up, since the quietness of your house was creeping you out and walk down stairs into the kitchen. You open the fridge and think about what you're going to get, but stop cold in your tracks as you hear a thud upstairs in your room; almost as if someone had landed on the floor.
You turn your head up to look at the ceiling where you thought the thud had landed, then hear a creaking sound right after. You follow the sound of noisy footsteps across the top of the ceiling with your eyes, and you just stare - frozen in fear - as you realize those footsteps had stopped where your bedroom door is at.
Your breathing becomes frantic as you consider that maybe it was your favorite CreepyPasta character, Jeffrey, or even Eyeless Jack, but you're too terrified to move. You think about your roommate, who you share the house with...he must've heard the thud,right...? You realize that it's awful quiet again... You think to yourself, "Was my mind playing tricks on me...? I swear, I heard that thud..."
Then...footsteps. They're coming down the stairs this time, and as your heart pounds loudly in your chest, you grab a knife from the kitchen drawer and hold it close, waiting, just staring at the stairs, trembling in fear.
All of a sudden you hear the familiar voice of your roommate, Drake, calling out your name and asking, "Is that you in the kitchen...?" You answer in relief and put away the knife as he asks, "What are you doing up so late?" He walks into the kitchen, rubbing his eyes with his sleeve and yawning. You give him a simple answer to his question, saying that you were only hungry and were going to drink some milk; laughing off your fear.
Then you thought to yourself, "I really am going nuts...I've gotta stop reading those stories at night before bed...." As you walk up the stairs and into the dimly-lit hallway before your very eyes, you walk to your bedroom door - only to find yourself gripping the door knob, almost like you were hesitant to open the door.
You hear footsteps behind you, and you know it's your room mate going back to his room, so you don't bother to look at him. Once you slowly open the door of your room, you find that your room's window was left open, soft wind blowing through the curtains. You look around and see that your room is empty, and no one is there. You walk to the window and shut it, even though you faintly remember when you left the room, your window was closed.
You stand there in fear, thinking on the sounds that you heard earlier...if they were actually real... Then you turn around and turn your rooms' lights on, looking around for an intruder...to find nothing. You turn your head to face the closet, and walk towards it slowly...and open it expecting something to jump out, but to find it completely empty.
You sigh in relief and close it, and just hit your head lightly on the door, muttering darkly to yourself for reading those scary stories at this hour of time. You look back at your clock to find that it was 12:30 am, and you decide to turn off the lights and slump onto your bed - just staring at the ceiling. Your eye lids slowly became heavy as you drifted into sleep, but you stay awake...feeling like something is under your bed...waiting for you to fall asleep.
You stay quiet, and hear a faint movement under you. You try to keep your breathing as calm as you could, and turn to your side to face the window and clock by your right side. You can hear more noise, a dragging sound, as if something had just gotten out from under your bed. You shut your eyes, hoping that this was only a mind trick - that your brain was just playing with you.
