Ruby pouted at herself in the mirror. No matter what she tried, she just couldn't get that one tuft of hair to stay flat.

"Ruby, we're leaving soon," her sister/ride to school called. "Just a sec," Ruby shouted back as she considered grabbing a pair of scissors. "What're you even doing, Rubes? You're always ready by this time."

The troubled brunette sighed and grabbed a bottle of Yang's hair gel. "RUBY, ARE YOU TOUCHING ONE OF MY HAIR PRODUCTS?" The bottle hit the floor with a thunk. "NOT ANYMORE!"

"You never worry about your hair. What's gotten into you?" Yang asked. Her little sister pulled her motorcycle helmet onto her head. "I dunno, it was just bugging me." "You've been getting weirder by the day, sis. You know you can always ask me for help." Yang shook her head before covering it with her helmet and opening the garage.

As Yang started up the engine on her precious yellow motorcycle, Qrow stuck his head out from the inside door. "Have a good day, girls. Don't forget to ask Penny for a ride, Ruby." "I won't," she called back. The two girls waved goodbye to their uncle, and Yang sped off into the big, wide world.

As they rounded the corner to Beacon, Ruby felt feverish. There was some sort of unexplainable excitement that latched on to her whenever she looked up at the tower that served as Beacon Academy's landmark through the treetops. I hope I'm not actually getting sick, she worried. Yang's right. I've been acting really weird. Why the sudden urge to impress Weiss? I never care about how I look or act. If people don't like me for me, then what's the point of being their friend? Sure, she's kinda famous and all, but...

Yang skidded her bike to a halt in front of the school. Several people turned their heads as Ruby swung a leg over the seat and hopped to the ground. "Thanks sis," she said, muffled by the helmet. When she unfastened the strap and took it off, there were whispers and murmurs coming from all over the front courtyard. Ruby was used to it. Just another day with her embarrassingly awesome sister.

Yang reached out for Ruby's helmet and put it in a pouch drilled to the back of the motorcycle. "No prob, Ruby. See you later today!" She took off at an acceleration that was probably illegal, but again, that was normal. It was a surprise she hadn't been cuffed yet.

Ruby shook her head and turned to the two huge double doors with glass panes that showed the commotion inside the halls. Keeping her head down at about a thirty degree angle, the brunette casually made her way out of the dramatic scene her sister had created. Everyone went back to what they were doing.

Sorry for the really short chapter, but I'll spend the rest of this week making it up to you!
