The Longest Ride

Ira and Ruth Levingston

Hi, my name is Ira Levingston and this is my life. One day this beautiful women walked in my store the Levingston's. I instantly fell in love. That night I walked up to a restaurant she was in, and bought a rose,  but she was with someone else, I knew I would never see her as her partner. I kept seeing her around town, and her name was Ruth. I saw her everywhere, it made me more and more sad. One day I saw her at church,  Ruth asked me Ira to walk her home. Of course I said yes.
We talked and she told me, "My family had to come here because of a war. We left everything behind even our family. I'm not even aloud to contact our relatives". We approach her house, a minute after I asked her if she wanted to go out tonight and we did. We were gonna go to the movies but Ruth brought me to this art place, she showed me her favorite piece and then we started dancing, soon after we kissed. After that we would go on weekend vacations and I never really went on vacation. We went to the beach once and we sat down on the beautiful beach sand and, I said,"Can I ask you a question"? I think she knew what was coming. But she said,"Wait, I want a big family, I feel that I have this responsibility to bring life back in the world". Okay I'm ready ask me." "Will you marry me Ruth?" She said,YES!What took you so long?" Then we kissed. We had an engagement party. Soon after I had to go away to war, we took this picture in the Photo Booth she gave it to me and  I left. This guy was dying over on our team I had to get him. I brought him to our hole, I got shot right were I needed to make babies. I was in the hospital but I never told Ruth. I knew how much Ruth wanted a family and I loved her so much I wanted her to be happy. She didn't even know I was home. I went to a little restaurant place not really, and she came in and asked for a explanation. I told her everything and I just walked out. Later she came in the store and told me, " You can't make those decisions for me, if I love you I can do what I want." Then we started kissing and brought love. We got married and one after another I got her paintings and surprised her with a house. The whole house was filled with paintings. Ruth became a teacher and this kid Daniel always fell asleep in class and he was dirty, so Ruth went to their house and talk to Daniels guardians his half brother and his wife and it seemed like they didn't care about him.So Ruth started tutoring Daniel. He started to get Manners and he got really happy and so did Ruth. It was time to stop tutoring Daniel because he didn't need it anymore . We took him home and Ruth told him he could be anything he wanted to be when he grew up and hugged him, his " Parents" took him away from Ruth and I had to, I didn't know what else to do. She was mad at me that night eating dinner. I was reading outside she came outside an said," I can't do this anymore, I'm going crazy." Then she went inside and started packing. I was looking up at her and she came down stairs and I went up to her a kissed her and said," See I love you so much you can leave and I want you to be happy even if that happiness no long includes me." As I tear up saying that walking away as she goes out the door. I took care of the house, the flowers everything. Then she came home and I was so thrilled. I got her so many paintings and filled the house with them. Every anniversary I would read her the letters I wrote for her even if she was right by my side. We grew old together then one day the alarm  went off at 6:00 am, Ruth never woke up, she died. I couldn't even talk. I took down all of her paintings so they wouldn't get ruined. Then Daniel's wife from a very long time ago knocked on my door and Daniel died. She gave me something and she gave me the picture from the photo booth when I left for war, of me and Ruth. He kept it to remember Ruth. Then I passed away, Who ever bought the portrait of Ruth by Daniel McDonald got the whole Ruth collection.
