Classes dismissal came, Mae and Anthony walked their way home.
“So, how do you see Denver?”
Anthony positioned his hands in his jeans pocket.
“Terrific I’d say.” Mae replied.
Laughing. “Really, why?”
“It is because the personalities of the kids in this school fit perfectly the same with the ones in Cambridge.”
“Ohh. What is it like being in a whole new place? By the way, if you don’t mind I would like to ask why you transferred here in California.”
“My dad.”
Mae’s face seemed so depressed; Anthony thinks that he was already going over the belt in the question.
“He asked my mom to come after him in California.”
“Why?”
“My parents split up when I was just 6 years of age and it is also because of dad’s work.”
“Just because of your dad’s work they split up?”
“Yeah. You might think it is quite a childish conflict but they really end up in divorce. My dad works in a TV Network, he was a stockholder that time and my mom was once a singer and of course my dad was her manager. There is this time wherein my dad had to leave us because the network offered him to be the CEO. So, he had to move in California. Mom let him choose between his work and us but he ended up choosing his work rather his family.”
“And why are you here?”
“Because I wanna see my dad again. He called me last week, on my phone, I didn’t know how he got my number but I knew that was my dad calling me. He asked us to move in California, he said he’ll be offering me a singing career.”
“Wow! You must be really lucky! Grab it! We don’t know maybe before the competition, we’ll be having two great superstars in our club and for sure we’ll win it in a jiffy.”
“I still don’t know if I’m going to accept the offer. Oh by the way, I’m here. Thanks for the walk, t ’was fun. So, see you tomorrow?”
“Yeah. See you tomorrow.” Anthony gave a charming smile to Mae and he continued walking a few more blocks before he got in their house.
Two months have passed after Mae’s entrance at Denver High. Nothing big happened during that time except for the frequent dine-outs of Anthony and Mae.
They were instant friends. They had celebrated Anthony’s birthday together, where they had a star-gazing at an observatory.
Race in two-wheels to school every school day, jogging in Saturdays and attending mass together every Sundays, they both had the best of their lives.
Every after their classes, Anthony would walked Mae to her home, then by night fall; he will have to go to Mae’s place to do assignments and projects.
There was also a time wherein they both composed a song and recorded it together.
Hazel, on the other hand, noticed the closeness of Anthony and Mae that she began to wonder. She had feelings for Anthony but she can’t really express it him because she fears that their friendship might be ruined.
She grew with so much jealousy on Mae.
