Summer’s POV

What is wrong with me! First I talk and have ice cream with some random guy that I don’t even know, then he gives  me his number without me knowing and then I’m completely off my game in the surf shop. No matter how many guys I talked to, I just couldn’t get in the zone. Ellie thought I was sick, Carly thought I was just trying to be nice for her and Kasey thinks that I have finally lost my touch. Macey believes that because I’m not on top of my game, that it’s a sign that I should call Jayson. Sure I want to but I can’t, I won’t because I’m not that kind of girl. Heck, I’m not the type of girl to go have ice cream with some random guy I just met. But I still went and did it, no second thoughts.

I pressed down on the gas pedal when the light turned green and turned left down my street. Why can’t I get him out of my head? Grrrrrrrr. Maybe all I need is a nice hot relaxing shower to clear my head. I’ve had a couple of crazy days with the concert, Jayson and the girls. Yeah, that’s all I need, a hot shower and 48 hours worth of sleep. Too bad I have school tomorrow; maybe I can call in sick. Yeah, Erik can just call me in sick; he owes me a favor anyway.

As I get out of my dark blue Suzuki Swift, I notice a yellow Porsche. Mr. and Mrs. Wembolton must have gotten a new car. The car was bright yellow and looked extremely expensive. Why wouldn’t they put it in their garage instead of leaving it on the footpath?

Walking through the front door I drop my bag and keys on the miniature table. As I head up the stairs to my room, a deep voice stops me, “Summerlind,” Urg I HATE it when people use my real name. It’s so long and weird. I don’t get what the point of the ‘lind’ part is. I mean no one uses it unless there old family (And I mean really old) or unless I’m in trouble. Seriously, why couldn’t they have just named me Summer.

“Where do you think you’re going? Running up the stairs and not even coming to say hello to me,” I stop in my tracks, just so I can hear the voice I haven’t heard in months. I wonder why he’s here. He always tells either Erik or me before he shows up. Well, he doesn’t have to tell anyone when he’s coming because, well, this is his house. But it still would’ve been nice to know.

“Hey dad. How are you? I didn’t know you were coming. You didn’t call or anything,” I turned to face my father. He still had the same grey eyes and brown hair, but this time his grey eyes were accompanied with bags underneath, making him look as though he hadn’t slept in days.

“Sorry I didn’t call or anything. But last time I checked this was my house,” he said matter-of-factly.

“I know, it’s just that…”

“I know what you mean,” He said, waving his hand dismissing my sentence.

“So… I thought you were in England directing a movie,” I said awkwardly. Did I mention this is awkward?

“I was, but I finished. Gosh, this is the first time I’ve seen you in months and instead of running to me and giving me a hug, you’re interrogating me,” he said rolling his eyes sarcastically (I hope), I couldn’t help but laugh. That’s the dad I know, always joking around.

“Didn’t your last movie have an interrogation scene or something?” I ask running down the stairs towards him and gripping him in a bear hug.

“Ahh, there you are Jack, we thought you had run off on us,” said a tall man with bronze hair and pure black eyes walking towards us. He was wearing black pants and a white button down shirt. He looked very professional. The professional looking man looked at me, and then gave my father a questioning look.

“Roy, this is my daughter Summer, Summer this is Roy Winston.” Where have I heard that name before? I’ve never seen Roy before in my life, but his name sounds familiar. Non-the-less I stuck out my hand for him to shake.

“It’s nice to finally meet you. Your father has told me all about you and Erik,” I felt my cheeks flush with embarrassment. Dad talks about us, since when.

“Oh… it’s nice to meet you too,” I say, still feeling embarrassed.

“I’m going to go wait with Chase in the living room,” said Roy, obviously feeling the tension in the air. Who’s Chase? Great, the first time I see my dad in months and he brought a bunch of strangers home.

“Does Erik know your home?” I asked turning back to my dad.

“No, not yet. But he’ll know when he comes home,” he said, turning his gaze away from where Roy had just walked through.

“How long are you staying for?” the question was out of habit and not curiosity. Every time he comes home, I ask him the same question and he gives me the same answer every time. ‘Only for a couple of days, maybe a week’

“Interrogations again Summerlind. Gosh, you have changed so much since I last time I saw you. Looks and personality wise.”

“Stop trying to change the subject dad,” I say, ignoring his statement. I mean I haven’t changed that much, have I?

“Well you see I’m going to be directing this new movie…” here he goes again. The same old speech he gives us every time he visits. He really needs to change it, I mean maybe even say it in a different accent or start it differently. ‘The Speech’ as Erik and I call it, is about how he has some brand new movie to direct so he’ll only be here for a week before he has to leave to start casting or something. “And the movie is going to be shot here. So between six months and a year,” he finished smiling. I can’t believe my ears. I started smiling like a crazy person, when I jumped on him and gave him a massive bear hug. I can’t remember the last time he stayed with us for more than three weeks. I was suddenly excited and didn’t feel sleepy at all.

“Oh, is Roy an actor?” I asked excitedly. I felt like I was six or seven again, when dad used to bring  actors home. But I hadn’t recognized Roy from any movies.

“No Roy’s just the agent. Chase is in the living room. This’ll be his first movie. I better get back to them; I’ll see you at dinner.”

“Okay. Oh and Macey’s coming over soon,” I told him, so he wouldn’t be confused when Macey shows up.

As I open the door to my room, I jump on my bed still holding the book from downstairs. Opening up my book to the first page, I see where Jayson had written his name and number.

No Summer, just forget about him. I don’t know him. But why do I want to call him so badly? Why can’t I forget him? No, I’m not going to think about him. I’m going to relax and read my book.

As I turn the page, guess what word is in the first sentence; Jayson. Yep you got it, the main guy characters name is Jayson. Okay, so maybe I won’t be reading my new book.

After putting the book away, I found my ipod and put it on the first song I saw. No it wasn’t Jason Derulo, that would be crazy and too many guys named Jason for one day.

Dancing around the room to Own This Club by Marvin Priest. I obviously hadn’t heard the door being opened because when I turned around I saw no other than Chase Star watching me from the door way.

OMG chase saw her soooooooooo embarrasing
