As i bolted the door, i heard the sound of the wind blowing against the door. I looked around the room i was in. It was dark, but i was able to make out the details of the space. There was a desk, a spiny chair, two waiting chairs, a little cage in the corner, and a fire. The fire was warm and cozy, but I didn't have time for cozy. I wanted my family and friends children back.
"Where could they be?" I mumbled. Then I realised. There was whimpering coming from the cage.
"No, it can't be."
I walked over to the cage and i saw some wolf cubs and I saw some humans.
"Did they morph when they got here?" I asked one of the boys that were human still.
"Most morphed on the way here, but yes. Some have morphed in this cage."
"Who has the key?"
"They threw the key into the fire."
"Alright." I walked over to the fire. I could halfway see the key's handle. It was long and bronze-y looking
"Ma'am?" The child i spoke to earlier whimpered
"What is it child?"
"The more of us the morph, the less space the rest have."
"Alright, I'm hurrying."
"Please do."
I needed something to get the key out of the fire. I looked around the mantle but it was empty. So i started looking through unlocked desk drawers. I found pictures, but one of them caught my eye, so i shoved it in my pocket for a later time. After a while of searching, i found a long iron rod on top of a stack of wood. I successfully got the key out with a little bit of failure. But, i mean, who doesn't fail on important stuff. I had to wait a minute until the key cooled off enough to touch it.
"Here you go." I said opening the door. At least 100 wolves tumbled out and like 10 more walked out. (We have like 3-6 children when we give birth.) (We have a lot of children.)
"Do any of you know how to morph back into humans? And if you do, don't do it."
"Why?"
"I'll explain later. We need to get out of here."
I slowly unlatched the door and had the little things follow me. I studied the enemy's enough to know that if you walked 89 feet across the way from the barracks, there would be an opening in the ground that they would use for escaping if they need to.
I morphed into wolf form and started to talk to anyone who was still alive.
'Hey if there are any survivors then meet us at the barracks. I have our children and they are well. But we will start the leaving process now.'
I waited a minute before jumping into the tiny crater where the opening was. I had the children jump into my back so that they wouldn't have to land on the hard rocks.
'Are there any adult survivors?'
There was no answer. Once i got the children safe and home i would make another trip out here to take survivors home.
After i got all of the kids counted, there was 137 of them, i had them get into the tunnel first. I would bring up the rear. Once there were like 5 left, i heard a sound of footsteps behind me and i felt a knife be plunged into my back.
'Good try, but I'm the Alpha b!t€#. You can't kill me.' I said while biting into the soft flesh of their neck and pulling out their neck bones. They're dead now. I gave one last sweeping look at the place before sealing the tunnels door.
