Lydia was taking a walk on the beach and watching her best friend, Cameron, surf. A huge wave was coming his way and she stopped walking. She watched with full intent as he rode it perfectly. She smiled and he looked back at her. She jumped up and down and cheered him on. "GOOD JOB!" She yelled at the top of her lungs. He smiled and dove into the water. She smiled and walked to the shoreline. He pulled in and shook the water out of his hair. "That was amazing!" She yelled, jumping a little. He chuckled. "Thank you. Now, can you go for a quick dip with me?" He asked. She sighed and thought about it. "Okay... But only for a few minutes." She said as he grinned and threw his fist in the air. She chuckled and removed her shorts and her top. She always wore a bikini when she was going to the beach, just in case she got wet. She ran into the chilly water and Cameron pushed her under playfully. They used to spend so much time at the beach together when they were younger, but as they grew older, life became more important, and they stopped doing it. They both let out a loud laugh as Cameron lifted Lydia up in his long, muscular arms and then dropped her in the water. She came back up and gasped for air. She looked around and didn't see Cameron. "Over here." He said. She looked ahead and saw him sitting on the shoreline. She stood up and walked to him. "Is this sand taken?" She asked, pointing to the shifting sand next to him. He shook his head. "By you." He said, smiling. She giggled and sat down next to him. He smiled at her and then turned away. "I wish we could do this more." He said sadly. She nodded in agreement. "Me too... But, sometimes life gets in the way and things change... I'm sorry." She said as he clenched his jaw and swung his arm around her shoulder. She laid her head on his shoulder. "We'll make it work. But, no matter what, we'll always be friends." He said, smiling. She smiled back. "I have to go, but I'll call you tonight. Bye." Lydia said, hugging him. He gripped her smallish body and pulled back. "Okay, bye." He said as they stood up. They left the beach together and separated paths. Cameron waved at Lydia before skating off on his Pennyboard. She giggled and ran home.
