“That’ll be 50 dollars,”

“50 dollars!”

“Yes, 50 dollars, what you expected a free ride or something?”

I sighed and gave the taxi driver the 50 dollars.

“If you want me to help you unpack your bags then that’ll be another 20 bucks.”

“20 bucks! Are you out of your mind?! Do I look like some type of rich girl to you?”

“Well you are white and a blonde so, yeah.” replied the taxi driver.

I ignored him and got my bags on my own. I went into the apartment and the first thing I see is my annoying bum ass 21 year old brother.

“Hey loser,” he said without taking his eyes off his video game.

“Why you gotta be home so early? I would of preferred you being in California with grandma and not here. You’re just a bother.”

“Shut up, you freak. Now where the hell is mom and dad?” I said looking around.

“Where else idiot, working, duh!”

I heard him mumble something but I didn’t get to hear what he said.

I stepped in front of him and asked,

“Aren’t you going to help me take my bags to my room?”

“Um, no,”

“Why not?”

“When I need your help you don’t help me so why would I? By the way your room is right down the hall and it’s so the first door so, bye bye and get out. I need to finish this level.”

“Well you could be a gentleman and help me.”

“Pfft. Ain’t nobody got time for that. Now move.”

I stepped aside and took my bags to my room. The moment I stepped inside I was shocked. Clothes were everywhere. Not my clothes but Sonny’s clothes. His underwear was on my bed, his socks were under my pillow, and his posters were on my wall.

“Sonny!”

“Why are your stuff in my room?!”

“Gee, about that . . . I had some friends over last night and I didn’t want to mess up my room so yeah. .  .”

“You better get your sweet and sour chicken ass over there and clean the mess up now!”

“Sorry dude. I promised Ryan that I’ll go over to his house and help him with his homework.” He said and then left.

I went back to my room and grabbed a big black trash bag, put all his clothes in it, and took it to the front door and labeled it “TRASH”. I couldn’t wait to see his expression when he found out.

I tried to look for an empty spot on my bed. I couldn’t so I pushed some stuff on the floor.

I turned on the TV and something caught my eye.

“This is Fox 5 news; I’m Matthew Rodriguez reporting live from Time Square, New York. This just in New York shook. If the camera can zoom in then you can see signs hanging all over the place. Right next to me there is a big hole with a car in it. People swear that the hole was on fire . . .”

I didn’t put much thought to it. I didn’t think it was something to worry about. I flipped through the channels to see if anything interesting was on. Nothing. I turned off the TV and went to the kitchen to make myself a sandwich.
