Sunday 5:15 a.m.

Dear diary,

I woke this morning with a strange feeling in my stomach, a writhing gut churning feeling that my parents said was just nerves. I don't believe them.... I don't get nervous, especially not over new schools. I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that I've never actually seen the school that I'll be attending. I checked the schools website "Shadow Crest academy.com" but there were no pictures.... Not even on Google images! How bizarre is that?!

Any ways, I leave today for Shadow crest. I'll be catching the eight o'clock train to a town called moonlight falls, and then a shuttle bus up to the school. I hate public transport. The gross, dirty, crowded and smelly compartments of death leave me feeling drained and grumpy. I'm excited that we don't have a uniform, especially ugly plaid skirts and blazers with sweaters and collared shirts... Oh wait; we do have all of that.... Lord kill me now!

ILY -TTYL,

~C.F~

I closed my diary and stared out the window, contemplating on how long it would be before I saw this house again. I turned and looked at the small things in my room. The pink wall paper that my dad put up when I was 7, my white four post bed with hot pink satin sheets and the matching bureau that contained what was left of my clothes (mostly the last season clothes that I had worn too many times). I would miss this place. I was about to turn and leave the room when the mirror above my bureau caught my eye. I walked over to it and looked at the person staring back at me. Bleached blonde hair with black regrowth coming through, I died my hair because my 'friends' wanted me to, they said it would make me look less emo. I was often told by boys that I was pretty (they said more explicit things, but my mind is mostly PG so I left some of it out) I didn't believe them. I had an angular face, with dark blue eyes and large pale pink lips. My hair was a deep black and it fell to my waist, but now it's shoulder length and peroxide stained leaving my hair a silvery blonde. "I miss my black hair" I grumbled to myself as applied some make-up (a little bit of foundation, mascara and a dark pink lip gloss that I think was called dark cherry). After making sure that my outfit was on point at least ten times, I headed downstairs to greet my parentals.

I walked down the stairs and sat on a bench adjacent to the kitchen, watching my mum and dad slave away on my going away breakfast. "I hope you haven't burned the bacon" I called to them with a cheeky grin on my face; but I already knew the answer to that, for you see my parents were both chefs at a fancy restaurant in the city. "Ha-ha" my dad replied sarcastically "keep it up with that attitude and we'll eat all this breakfast by ourselves" he waved the spatula at me as he talked in what I'm sure he thought was a threatening motion, but really just made me want to laugh. "If you do that you'll probably get fat" my mum teased whilst throwing me a wink. "I think I'm already there" my dad said whilst pushing out his stomach and rubbing it. "You two are strange" I informed my parents when they served me my favourite breakfast dish of all time: chocolate chip pancakes with whipped cream and a bucket sized serving of maple syrup. "I'll miss this" I said to my parents with tears springing up in my eyes. "We'll miss this as well honey" my dad replied "But this boarding school will be a great experience for you". "And who knows, maybe you'll find an attractive boyfriend" My mum added to dads speech. That's my mum for you, a serial optimist. "Come on honey, if we don't leave now we'll miss the train" my mum called from the kitchen. "Coming" My dad and I both called out. We faced each other and laughed like Hyenas. God I'm going to miss them....
