Dia's P.O.V
I sat on his bed in my rain soaked wedding lehenga, sobbing in silence, waiting for him to enter.
I heard the giggle of his sisters and then the click of the door, he was coming.
I squeezed my eyes shut, the remaining tears falling only to disappear into the fabric of my dress!
The bed dipped onto the side wear he sat, he removed his watch and his shoes, and then walked into the bathroom, shutting the door and plunging the room into darkness, the only light came from the few candles and the reflection of the moon.Neither did I want to be here, nor did he want me here. He said he did, but it was a lie, just like me, he wanted someone else.
I looked at the beautiful mehndi design on my hands, A! But it wasn't for him.
Earlier that day
"Your so beautiful, your fiancé is a lucky guy!" Mariam, the makeup lady, said to me. I smiled at the thought of him. Fiancé, hmm?
While she was curling my hair there was a knock on my bedroom door.
"Come in!" I called. Adam walked in, wearing his sherwani, looking very annoyed.
Adam is my next door neighbour and one of my besties, he is also engaged to my cousin Farah.
"I look stupid!" He said standing in front of me.
"No you don't, you look great! Right Mariam?" I asked.
"Adam you look really good!" She laughed.
"But why can't I just wear a suit like everyone else?" He whined. God all he does is whine! How is Farah gonna live with him.
"Ugh fine, go and wear a suit!" I huffed.
Adam's P.O.V
I smiled in victory and went to walk out of the door, but I stopped as Dia started her sob speech.
"I mean it's only my wedding. Nothing special right? It's only gonna happen once, but who cares. I'm just plain old Dia! If my best friends don't look good to me, well who cares right?" I sighed and turned back to her.
"Fine I will wear it!" I said in defeat, but seeing her smile made it all worth while! Wait what?
I walked out of the room and went to help uncle (Dia's dad) load the presents into the car.
Once we were done I went to see if Farah was ready.I was on my way to her room, when I got a phone call from my dad. He needed some help with one of the cars.
Farah's P.O.V
I quickly packed all my things into my suitcase. I made sure I had everything I needed and then I went down to blend in with the wedding. I needed to leave swiftly so no one noticed.
Dia is practically my sister and Adam has never done anything bad to me. I loved him once, but now the course of my heart has changed, if I have to hurt a few people to get my happy ending, then so be it.
Dia's P.O.V
I was all ready! My makeup was done, my hair was done and I was wearing my beautifully embroidered lehenga. It was time to marry the love of my life, Arjun.
I got into the car with mum and dad in the front while me and Farah sat in the back.
Once we reached the hall, I had to wait for Arjun and his family to arrive.
I sat inside one of the rooms at the hotel, where we were having the wedding and waited."I'm going to help downstairs okay. Bye." Farah said and left. The way she said bye felt really wierd.
After a whole hour they still hadn't called me down. Arjun's family had arrived half an hour ago. I was getting impatient.
Suddenly Alina, Farah's younger sister, burst into the room."D-dia d-di you need to come down, there is a huge problem." I raised my eyebrow in confusion, but followed her down nevertheless.
Everyone was spread out in the hall, all looking depressed. Dad was pacing around, while mum was sitting at a table with her head down. But what really caught my eye was Adam, he was crying in silence.
I walked in and everyone stopped what they were doing, all eyes were on me. I scanned the room, searching for Arjun but he was nowhere to be seen, I couldn't see Farah either.
"Dad, what's going on?" I asked, but it was like he couldn't look at me.
"Mum?" I could feel tears, trying to come out, but I held them back. I didn't understand, no one was speaking.
I was about to speak again, but Adam did instead."Here, take this and read it!" He shouted in anger, throwing a letter at me, I was taken aback and hurt by his tone, what happened?
I read the letter and it was like torture right until I had finished reading.
"He left?" I breathed in utter shock.
Authors P.O.V
Dia ran out of the room in tears, she had to get away.
She ran out of the hotel, into the dark street, rain soaked her and her surroundings.
"ARJUN, ARJUN!" She shouted, but in vain. She kept running until she felt someone pull her, she hit a hard masculine chest.
"Arj-Adam?" He followed her.
Dia sobbed on his chest, she didn't know what else to do."Dia, marry me." She pulled away.
"What?" She asked in shock.
She actually did know why. It's because of the letter.Dear Dia,
I'm sorry to have to put you in this situation, but we had no other way. Farah and I have fallen in love and we want to get married. I couldn't tell it to your face, I didn't have the courage too.
At this moment we are far away from you guys, and we truly are sorry for this.
Arjun
"Adam has also lost his love, we are both the victims, and even though I don't want to admit it, I need him more than he needs me." She thought.
This a cruel world, no one will marry a girl who was left on her wedding day.
So she nodded.Dia followed Adam back to the hall, where they got married.
It was the worst feeling, having to leave your family. It was even worse because she was leaving with the wrong person.
Dia couldn't even cry.The car ride was silent, it was more like a funeral rather than a wedding.
Adam's P.O.V
We reached my house and Dia went up to my room, after a while a while I also went up. I paid my sisters so I could go in and then after removing, my watch and shoes, I entered to take a shower.
I got dressed and came out of the room, she was still in the same position.
"Um you take the bed, I will take the sofa." I said, she nodded and went over to the bathroom, but tripped on her lehenga, I caught her and helped her up.
A gust of wind flew through the room, making all of the candles go out. It was dark, not completely but it was dark.
Dia whimpered, she was afraid of the dark. I was about to walk to the sofa, but Dia wouldn't let go, instead she hugged me tight.
So I hugged her back.Sure she isn't Farah, and I'm not Arjun, but out hearts have enough fire to love again, in time!
