I went to bed smiling that night. It had been such a cute evening, and I was glad that Alex had liked my necklace. Even when I left her house we kept messaging, and she must have thanked me three more times, which I found very sweet. I got tired before I did, and she insisted that I go to sleep and not be too tired for school the next day. So I told her that I was going to sleep and did exactly that.

The next morning I woke up to a sweet message from Alex telling me how much I meant to her. I felt like I was walking on air and I loved it. I was ready earlier than usual and practically skipped downstairs.

"How was meeting Michael's girlfriend yesterday?" I asked mum as I walked into the kitchen.

"Sophia seems quite nice. Michael seemed happy. Dad was teasing him a little, but no it was good. They seem good together." Mum said, and I smiled.

"I'm glad to hear it. I'll be teasing him loads when I meet her." I said, giggling.

"Don't be too mean to him." Mum warned, and I laughed.

"I won't be. Maybe." I said, before going to put my shoes on. I got ready and left the house after saying goodbye to mum. I walked to school with a spring in my step, I must have looked embarrassing but I didn't care. When you're that happy, it just doesn't matter.

"You look happy." A voice said from behind me, and I turned around.

"Yeah, I'm just in a good mood I guess." I said, smiling at Lily.

"I'm glad to hear it! How is everything?" She asked, making conversation.

"It's good, everything's going pretty well. My brother brought his girlfriend home last night, and I was tutoring so I wasn't there but my parents like her. I wish I could have been there to tease him about it." I said, giggling.

"I can imagine!" Lily said.

"How are you anyway?" I asked.

"I'm pretty good. School work is getting to me and everything but I'm holding through. And I'm getting a puppy this week, I'm so excited." Lily said, with a smile on her face.

"I'm so happy for you! I wish I could have a puppy." I'd always wanted to have one, but we weren't at home enough to look after one and it wouldn't be fair to it.

"Hopefully you can one day. Do you want to come over at some point and see her?" She asked me, and I nodded.

"I'd love to!" I said, and Lily gave me a big smile.

"Also, um, I've wanted to ask you about something...is it true that you and Calum are an item?" Lily asked, going red.

"No! Oh my god no, me and Calum are just friends." I said, laughing. The idea of us being together was absurd. Even if I was attracted to boys, Calum and I would always just be friends. I could never see him in that way.

"That's good. There's a rumour going round that you two are together, I thought I'd ask anyway. You're single aren't you?" She asked, and I felt nervous all of a sudden. I felt bad about the thoughts of lying to Lily, I didn't like to lie. But it didn't mean that I was going to tell her the truth. That was one thing that I absolutely couldn't do.

"Have you seen me?" I asked, hoping that I wouldn't have to give a definite answer.

"I'm taking that as you are single." Lily said, laughing. I laughed with her, blushing at the awkwardness of it all. We both kept walking along, making small talk before we got to school. Lily was okay, but she believed rumours way too easily. I hated it when people did that.
