Prologue

"You know I love you, right?" I ask, just to make sure. She had never believed me. But it was true. She didn't know we were mates. She didn't know I was a wolf. She didn't know I loved her painfully. I loved her so much it hurt. But she was human. Everyone had always said you couldn't mate with a human. But I did. The Alpha obviously had some secrets he didn't care to share...

"My heart believes you," she finally says. "But my mind doesn't..."

God, even when she was breaking my heart she was still utterly gorgeous. She had fair skin, as we lived in Illinois and she had never been to the beach. She loved the cold too much to betray it and go outside a lot during summer. She was the indoors type. She also had dark green eyes, like vines that reached out and stole my heart all those months ago. Her long blonde straight hair ended just past her shoulders and black strands ended by her eyes on the right side, and a few more times on the left, with two strands of pink on the left side.

"Honey, you're gorgeous. You have to believe me!" I cry, still fighting for all that we've had.

"My heart believes you, but my mind doesn't." she repeats.

This was the heartbreaking moment. I had once chance left. One chance to convince her I loved her. One chance to convince her that she should listen to her heart. One chance for my life to continue.

"I would never hurt you. Please believe me."

This time, she finally met my light green eyes with her dark ones. She carefully reached a hand out and moved a strand of my medium length blonde hair out of my face. I leaned into her hand and that's when she pulled away.

"I'm sorry, Logan. My heart believes you, but my mind doesn't."

"But I-"

"I'm sorry. But my mind is a lot smarter than my heart."

And those were the words that broke my heart.

Wow, you guys are probably confused, huh? Well, that heartbreaking scene is between me and the love of my life, Frankie Deltoro. Sound like a guy name? Well, Frankie isn't a guy. She's the most beautiful thing to ever walk this Earth. Anything I'd ever thought of as beautiful, charming, pleasuring, kind, or sweet, was all wrong. It all changed when I met her.

That scene takes place months after we met. We met on her first day of freshman year, when she was 14, me, 16. See, she is super smart, so she was taking Junior math class. That was when she walked in. The teacher, Mr. Velvet (Ridiculous, I know), called her by her full name, Frankie Logan Deltoro. I know, my first name is her middle name. Now most of the people in class were werewolfs as well, so when they started laughing that she had a guy name, they immediately stopped when I gave them a look of anger that could only be deciphered as "She's my mate so leave her the f*ck alone.". And they did. Because no one gets that mad over someone unless they're mates.
