Prologue:
A Recap
A few years ago, the land of Cloundrend was a peaceful utopia. There were no conflicts of any kind. Many assumed this was due to the intervention of the Empire into Cloudrend's affairs.
Many others assumed the Empire stepped in to destroy Cloudrend's peace. And those others would be justified in that response.
Cloudrend's Civil War didn't begin until the Empire stepped into Cloudrend. The war was fought between the Empire and the Knives, an ancient race of humans and renowned Dragonslayers.
At the lead of the Knives was always the Dragonspawn. The Dragonspawn was essentially a Dragon in a man or woman's body. They possessed the strength, sould, mind and body of a Dragon.
The most recent Dragonspawn Cloudrend has seen was Char-gar Gothikon, a Felinar, or that of a feline race. Char-gar had traveled Cloudrend in search of training to defeat the Ancient Evil that had returned. The Dragon Arcluse. The Original Dragon.
Char-gar's training started with an emerald Dragon named Emeralda. Char-gar and Emeralda immediatley bonded after meeting by fate at the watchtower and spent months training together in the ways of the Dragonspawn.
Char-gar's next companion was a human named Thargut. Thargut was the leader of Redwalk, who was also known as Geen Thargut the Strong. Thargut revealed to Char-gar that he was a member of the Knives, and could help further his training.
Char-gar, Thargut and Emeralda made there way to Frostfront, where they met Geen Maldafa the Wise, who joined their party in sheer fear of being assassinated.
Maldafa's fear was not unjustified, though. During their stay in Frostfront, Char-gar stopped the plot of a man named Tazio. Tazio was an Assassin under the Empire and was sent to kill Maldafa.
Char-gar defeated Tazio in combat, but spared his life. For that, Tazio vowed that he owed Char-gar his life. Tazio and Maldafa joined Thargut, Char-gar and Emeralda on their adventure.
Their next stop was in Vanderville, Cloudrend's very own home of the Knives. While there, the four companions were inducted into the Order and trained in the ways of the Knives for weeks.
The Knives betrayed their trust when they attempted to murder Emeralda. Char-gar and Tazio succeeded in defeating the Knives' leader, Virlas, and rescued Emeralda. They then flew back to Vanderville and Emeralda set the city on fire in order to recue their friends.
They then returned to Redwalk to discover it had been taken over by Thargut's old advisor, Aventhal, now known as Geen Aventhal the Valiant. After a brief coup de tat, Thargut took back his city.
The four companions spent weeks building up followers in order to be able to march upon Dragontopia, Arcluse's home. When they had a small army, they stormed Dragontopia.
They managed to defeat Arcluse's army, the Dragon Priests, pretty fast. Then after a short battle involving many casualties, including Maldafa, Arcluse transported the companions to a mountain, where he continued to attack them.
Arcluse eventually managed to get Tazio and Char-gar to the base, where he burned Char-gar, paralyzing him. Before Tazio get stop him, he engulfed Char-gar in an eery white light.
Char-gar was gone.
More Dragon Priests arrived and knocked Tazio unconscious with more magic. His captors have left him here, under the mountain, for two months straight. Tazio only had one thought on his mind.
Escape.
And that's just what he'd do.
