No ones POV

Time felt like it had come to stand still. Each day seemed like it would never end. Each day became harder. Almost to hard to bare but yet there had been no choice but to continue on.  Day after day after day. Waiting for the king to return.

Each day as hard as the next. He adapted to all the changes but yet nothing stayed planted within his heart as much as the great time of Camelot itself does.

It would never be the same as that and it never will. But yet he has hope that one day the once and future king would return. Until then he will have to continue, alone on his own waiting for that day.

Waiting, waiting and waiting for a very long time.

///////

He felt himself go. He felt the life go within him and then nothing. Everything seemed so distant and not real at all anymore. He always wondered what death would be like but this? He had never expected.

But as quick as that feeling came it vanished. Leaving him in the darkness but only for a moment until he felt alive again.

Arthur's POV

I open my eyes feeling a soft gentle breeze on my cheeks. I yawn loudly before I get into a sitting position and look around. Where am I?

What do I last remember? Merlin and...he has magic and I...wait I died didn't I? I shake my head in pure confusion. What is going on?

I stumble to my feet, my body feeling weird and strange to me. It feels like so long since I was here but yet...it had not been long at all.

The lake is behind me and in front? I can not even begin to explain it. Not much of this makes sense to me right now.

"Arthur," suddenly someone says my name.

I look to my left and my mouth falls open at who I see. "Merlin?"

"It is indeed me Arthur and you have returned just in time. United Kingdoms needs you now more then ever," he states.

"What? I thought I died," I question.

"You did Arthur but you have always been the once and future King. Its time for your return and I have waited a long time for this. Do not keep me waiting any longer. I will show you everything in due cause but for now I must prepare you for what is to come," he tells me.

"Why are you old?" I ask him.

He smiles, "I have lived for a long time now Arthur but for you I will make it a bit easier," he smiles whispering something softly. A spell no doubt and right in front of my eyes he goes from very old Merlin back to the Merlin I came to love and care for. Magic or not. I had come to know I would always care for him.

"I am still very confused," I continue.

"I know Arthur just come with me. I will make it all clear for you but we must be fast. Everyone is in danger," he tells me firmly.

So I head over to him, "I will go where I am needed, Merlin."

Merlin's POV

I sat on the sofa Arthur next to me. I am letting it really sync in before I speak to him again. I let the silence stay for a while but finally I get up from the sofa and look down at Arthur.

"I know this is not the world you knew. I know you may hurt a lot inside but the United Kingdom's is in danger. Everyone is if this threat is not stopped. You must stand up and fulfill your destiny," I smile to him.

"My destiny," says Arthur softly.

"I know its a lot Arthur I know but you must understand this. I have waited a long time for your return. This threat I can not stop by myself. You must help me protect this world just as you did for Camelot."

Arthur looks at me and nods, "I know Merlin. I understand. I will do all I can to help you, idiot," he smirks.

"Still a dollop head then, or was it cabbage head. Oh wait its clot pole is it not?" I grin right at him.

"I have missed you, Merlin."

"And I with you Arthur."
