"Good 'Eve High Council." I bowed. "How may I be of service?"
Before Alaric could answer Alcina spoke,"I'm happy to see that you are back from your last mission!"
I smiled at the eversweet twin and turned to Alaric as he proceeded to talk. "Now, as I was going to say..."
"Well, well, well if it isnt the little witch all grown up. I see you've grown in all your womanly parts." joked Rory, who arrived late, yet again, to a meeting.
"I see you still haven't changed your ways, your highness." I tried for a glare but failed when he winked.
"How many times must I tell you not to call me that?! Call me Rory. We are family after all."
"Oh? So you finally got that all cleared up? What are you then? My lecherous uncle?"
Without meaning to, on my first day in meeting the legendary High Council I made friends. They are not only just my friends but my family and it turned out that Rory is related to me. Which is believable because we have a few of the same features, raven black hair, steel gray and black flecked eyes and cream colored skin, its uncanny how alike we are sometimes. The twins seem to think so. They would know. Right? They're alike in many ways too, they both have luscious auburn hair, hazel eyes and golden colored skin.
"Actually, my pale-faced relative, I am not going to tell you. I'm going to save it for when you come back from your adventure." He smiled sweetly then looked at Alaric to begin.
"It's about damned time!" He threw up his hands. "Anyway, Evan, your assignment is going to take place in the 1600's. Now what you're..." He cursed when I cut him off again.
"The 1600's! That's preposterous, it's simply not done! That's in the past. We are now in the future nothing can be altered now! What's done is done, we've helped all we could." I was starting to babble. Going back into the past was dangerous, especially, because of all the witch huntings and burnings. Me being part vampire didn't make matters any more easier, I'm impervious to the sun but, like I've witnessed on a hybrid vamp, I will shrivel up and die at the slightest lick of fire. And I'm a witch. Talk about a double wammy.
"Evan! Calm yourself." I stoped babbling and stared at Alaric. "You promise to let me finish?
I zipped my lips, stepped forward and placed the key on his palm, which he then used to facepalm. I smirked then gestured for him to continue.
He glared at me but continued anyway, "The reaon why you're going in the past is because one of our own has gone rogue and is now trying to change the course of events which will be undoubtably disastrous. We trust you the most and you're highly skilled so we believe you'll succeed. You'll be leaving this weekend and you will be staying with Lord Liam Foxe. And before you interrupt me, let me say that I've made this arrangement because he will offer you protection by becoming your hus..."
"Don't say it Alaric! Dont say the H word! I shan't marry! I'd rather be tortured at the hands of an angry mob with torches and be unable to call upon my powers...than to marry!" I had to admit I was a bit overdramatic at times. "Furthermore, I dont know this man and I doubt he knows much about me."
"Actually, he does know a lot about your personal life. Moreover, he has agreed to visit us here."
"What! When were you planning on informing me on this? Should'nt you have told me before my supposed 'fiance' was planning a visit?" Great! Just what I needed. "When is he coming?"
"He's on his way as we speak," he smirked, "Shouldn't you be excited?"
I flipped him off, "You guys are going to pay for this one day!"
