Day One:
Five was far too early to even consider getting up, but Wesley dragged himself out of bed anyway, feeling like he was going to collapse at any moment. Drew was no where to be seen and Keaton was still curled up on the bed, snoring peacefully. All three of them had spent the night- their last night together- at the Chadwick household, and they probably hadn't gotten to sleep until around two thirty in the morning. Two and a half hours wasn't a very good amount of sleep for Drew, considering he was driving all the way to his grandparents that day, and Wesley felt guilty.
Three months had passed since he'd forgiven Drew, and in those three months they'd been growing closer and closer. While Wesley was too nervous to bump their relationship up to the next level (and Drew never would because he was waiting for Wesley to be ready) their friendship had continued to grow stronger and they hardly left each other's side. Even at Drew's nineteenth birthday party, the blond refused to leave him on his own and had stayed by him the entire night. It was a big shock to some of their friends who hadn't seen them for a while, because as far as they knew, the two were enemies.
Wesley felt like he was walking to his death as he stumbled into the bathroom to freshen up.
Drew would be gone for two whole weeks, and despite the fact Wesley's life had improved greatly over the past year, the brunet still wasn't ready to be parted from his friend so soon. There was an aching feeling in his stomach, present ever since he'd learned the blond would be leaving, that urged him to beg for Drew to stay, but he knew was being silly so he hadn't said anything.
Drew's packed suitcase was sitting in the living room when Wesley went downstairs, and the sight of it made his stomach feel like it was shrinking. He didn't want Drew to leave. And knowing he could do nothing about it made him want to cry.
There was movement in the kitchen, so he headed that way, not really sure who to expect. It was Drew at the stove (of course, Drew's mother would still be in bed), just turning it off and putting freshly made pancakes onto a plate. When the nineteen year old blond turned, he fixed Wesley with a smile and gestured to the food. "Morning. You hungry?"
His stomach rumbled painfully, but the thought of eating made his gag reflex play up. "Not really," he lied quietly, shaking his head. He thought he saw Drew frowning so he added, "not this early in the morning. I'll have something later."
He probably wouldn't, but whatever. It wasn't like Drew would be around to check up on him anyway.
"Alright..." Drew shrugged and put the pancakes in the fridge. "I've already had mine, so..."
He trailed off and they stared at each other, neither knowing what to say. Wesley broke the eye contact first, ducking his head and playing with a loose thread on his shirt. "When are you leaving?"
"Ten minutes," the blond replied, sounding a little awkward, a little regretful. "Think Keaton will get up in time to see me off?"
"I doubt it, maybe you should go wake him up while you still have time," Wesley suggested.
"Yeah... I think I will," Drew passed him on the way out, and his hand settled on Wesley's shoulder briefly. "Wait for me, yeah?"
Wesley only nodded, going into the living room and sitting heavily on the couch as Drew climbed up the stairs to say his goodbyes to Keaton. The suitcase was still there, mocking him with it's implications. Wesley lost count of the time he spent glaring at it, but when he heard footsteps descending the stairs he began to panic, realizing he had maybe five minutes left with Drew before the older boy had to go.
"Wanna give me a hand taking my shit to my car?" Drew asked him once he was back in the living room, gesturing to the suitcase and laptop bag sitting beside it. Nodding, Wesley took the laptop and they both left the house, the cool morning air making the brunet shiver. It was far too early for goodbyes.
