18:30

I tried to concentrate on my homework. The words spinning in front of my eyes. My right leg was bobbing up and down as I constantly tapped my foot and clicked my pen continuously.

18:32

I clenched my fist and tried to take in deep breaths to slow down my heart rate which was beating uncontrollably.

18:33

I tipped my head back and cautiously eyed my closed curtains. I glanced at the clock hanging above my desk, the tick tock echoing in my brain.

18:34

I managed to answer one of the questions on my homework assignment.

18:40

I finished some of the questions trying my best to concentrate.

18:42

I had enough. I shot up, ran my shaking hand through my hair, threw on a random t shirt, jumped into a pair of tracksuit bottoms, slipped on a hoodie. Bye bedroom, we'll probably never see each other again. I slowly made myself downstairs, familiarising each and every detail of our house from the chipped paint to the few photos lying here and there and the many flower vases. I placed my hand on the cold doorknob of our front door and took a deep breath. I started to turn it.

"Where on earth do you think you're going young lady?" I jumped in fright and turned around. My mum stood there with her hands on her hips and worry swam in her eyes. "You weren't willing to go in the morning around town so why now?" she carried on. Because now it's over, I don't have any hope left, I wanted to say but I didn't.

"I need to go to my classmate's house for a project, it's only down the road. I'll make sure I don't walk alone in any dodgy alleyways, I promise." Please let me go, I mentally begged my mum. My mum nodded slowly, "I'll drop you-"

"No! I mean no, I'm fine, I'll go myself. Seriously, it's just down the road mum, I'll text you when I get there. I'm an adult now."

"You may be an adult now but still, you're my daughter. But fine, I'll let you go but if you don't text me at least in another half an hour, I'm calling the police to go search for you okay?" I gulped and nodded. I opened the door and looked at my mum one last time.

"I love you mum." I turned around and closed the door behind me before she could say anything back. That's probably the last time I'll see her. I'm glad I left her with a positive note. I do love her. I always loved my mum so that was why I felt so guilty leaving her as I walked down the road.

I knocked on the door. I waited. I texted my mum that I'm fine.

"Adria! I didn't expect you today but what a pleasant surprise, come in." I went in.

"I'm so sorry that I've just turned up, can I just discuss some things with Christopher about the project, is he in his room?" I asked fidgeting nervously. "Of course dear," she replied with a smile.

19:00

"Adria!" another voice greeted me. Callum stood in the middle of the corridor in football gear caked in mud. I shook my head amused. "Callum, have you heard of showers?" He nodded and replied, "But they're so much effort don't you think?"

"They're effort but they're useful if you stink," I dramatically pinched my nose, "And if you look like you've been rolling in mud like a dog!" He laughed, "Oh, you gotta love stinky, muddy boys though!" I shook my head while wrinkling up my nose as he got closer to me.

"Why are you here though?" I pointed towards Christopher's room and replied, "project."

"Oh, he's not in a very good mood though so um you know just be careful if that makes sense."
