The office of Samara Kapoor was pentagonal shaped. The five, beige coloured walls of her cabin were mostly bare, with only two photo frames hanging off the fifth wall which was of her parents, the people she loved the most in the entire world. Love would be for the lack of vocabulary, to be honest. Semantics convey that she was obsessed with them. The 26 year old woman was always ready to feed off of their personalities, as if she was the predator and they were the prey. She wanted to be like them. No, she wanted to submerge them into herself and revel in the fact that she was the only person who could hedge them from the heinous, evil world like an affectionate, powerful guardian.

The certainty that those two figures that she constantly idolised never had the time to throw a considerate glance on their only daughter, never failed to extinguish her hope and her obsession towards them. She was always ready to show them the best of her. She was more than willing to hog attention from them, no matter what she had to do in order to bask in it.

Moreover, she couldn't deny the fact that they were busy people. They worked day and night to provide their adorable daughter the lavish lifestyle that she was used to since what in actuality was forever. She had gotten used to a swarm of busy bees in her exquisite mansion and vacant life. At least that she is what she kept telling herself incessantly.

The cabin wasn't bestowed with much light, but only a lamp which sprinkled bright, yellow flashing all over her cluttered desk. She liked darkness. It was a reminder of what her life was and contained. Generally, fluorescents and neon lights pierced her eyesight, as if she were creature of the night. Too much light signifies mirth, belief. Her life was devoid of both such emotions, but it was strange that she almost cherished that void.

Almost.

Her dark brown eyes were fixed on the photo frames, scanning them agilely even in the dark. Her thumb was skimming the long, scarlet nails of the rest of her fingers absentmindedly.

A low knock jolted her out of her reverie and she immediately sat straight. "Come in!"

The door to her office opened without making any creaking noise. She had ensured long time back that the hinges were well oiled since that irking noise usually angers her a lot. Suddenly, a head popped inside as the high pitched voice vaguely made her register that the creature was of female gender. "It's time for the meeting, madam!" Her lips stretched into a small, smug smile at the sound of the word madam. The fact that the girl in the frame lay low than her on the hierarchy chart was more than enough to plug shivers of superiority up and down her spine.

"I'll be in the conference hall in five." She asserted in a neutral tone, though the undercurrents of triumph were clearly audible in her voice.

The girl who was still standing at the door nodded meekly and stalked out without saying another word. Closing the wooden piece behind her, the petite girl who was Samara's assistant, rolled her eyes at her boss's intentional theatrics and made her way toward the conference hall.

Samara got up and skirted out of her comfortable, wheeled chair. She casually walked in the direction of the fifth wall and as soon as she reached it, her fingers delicately brushed against the lustrous glass of the photo frames which showed two beaming silhouettes. They looked so proud in the fact that they were who they were. She leaned forward and whispered assuring, "I'll be back in an hour." With that, she backed away and manoeuvred out of her dark office to head toward the centre where an important meeting was going to take place.

She ran her hand carefully along her silky, black hair so as to ensure that they were immaculate as always. She brushed a hand against her grey business suit which accentuated her curves well. Tightening her pony tail and rolling her neck in a clockwise direction, she pushed the door to the conference hall open.
