The Nature of Things

I am nothingness,

Yet I’m still there.

I am precious,

But no one seems to care.

Right now, I surround you,

I’m all around you.

Forget me if you wish,

But when I’m gone,

Death will be served to you on a dish.

A life force would vanish,

And it wouldn’t be the only one.

Kill, eat, and breathe as much as you crave

Though, you have to learn how to save.

The trees you cut,

The plants you eat,

They’re all related to what you breathe.

Just count to three,

Three minutes indeed.

Be happy you’re here,

If you’re still not deceased.

You wouldn’t bleed,

Nor would your trusty steed.

You would starve.

Not of food,

Or anything related to your mood.

Instead, you’ll starve of air,

So lose me if you dare.

The very air that you’ve learnt to breathe.
