I woke up with my hands tied behind my back around what seemed to be a large concrete pole, and my legs extended in front of me with my ankles tied together. My instincts kicked in and my heart beat faster as I thrashed my limbs around, trying to break free of the painfully tight constraints. The worst part of it all, though, was that there was some sort of cloth tied over my eyes, cutting off the one sense I depended on most.

I could feel movement from the other side of the room, or whatever it was we were in, and I stopped moving immediately. Little rumbles in the tile told me someone was walking around, and as they got heavier I knew someone was approaching me. The blindfold was ripped from my eyes and was met with darkness, only adjusting after a few minutes to the little lamp in the corner of the room. There was a window about ten feet in front of me and two men on either side of it. The blinds were wide open, but it was dark outside.

The man on the right looked to be about 30, his hair disheveled and clothes dirty. The other was in the same state, only he held a gun in his hand and his eyes were alight with evil mischief. The one who’d given me my sight back was a male in his early twenties at the latest, and his light blonde hair was slicked back in a professionally douche-bag-ish way. The little breaths that hit my face along with the smile told me he was laughing, and that made me narrow my eyes.

He began to speak, but then looked at me with wide eyes and turned to the others. When he’d finished talking to them he pulled something out of his pocket and began writing on it, with a pen he’d provided from behind his ear. He ripped one sheet off the notepad and handed it to each of the men, who ripped it in half and placed it on their shirts. The man still in front of me continued to write on the next sheet, taking a bit longer. Once he’d finished, he turned it to me and I read the messy scrawl.

I’m Ted. If you have any questions please feel free to keep them to yourself.

When my eyes met his again he stuck it right to my forehead and the two others snickered like little kids watching their best friend get caught. My face heated up with anger and I wanted to scream at them, and that’s when I realized something.

I have no recollection of getting here.

I searched my entire brain, wracked through every memory, scanned through every picture to try and recognize where I was or the people in front of me, but nothing clicked. I scrunched my face in confusion, and let the anger subside a bit. Of course I was still extremely angry from the simple action Ted had pulled, mocking me in a sense that still hurt a bit. I haven’t fully adapted to being deaf, even though I was pretty damn close to being happy, and then I get taken away from everyone and my senses are abused.

That reminds me – where is everyone else? If I was taken, which I’m pretty sure is what happened, for I’d never willingly come here to this place with these men, then where are the others? Zayn? Karen? Liam? Squeezing my eyes shut I tried to remember the last thing that happened with them, but I only got a short memory.

Zayn tugged me down on the bed on top of him, my knees resting on either side of his waist. He wrapped his arms around my torso and pulled me down, his back flat on the bed while our chests touched. One of his hands found their way to my hair and he gently played with my curls. His head suddenly turned to the door and when I followed his gaze, I was met with a droopy-eyed Karen.

Good night boys. She signed.

I waved with a small smile and she shut the door behind her. Zayn’s hand, the one not tangled in my hair, found my cheek and pulled my eyes back to his warm pools of caramel. I rested my forehead on his, closing my eyes and breathing in his comforting scent deeply. Suddenly both hands rubbed down my back and squeezed my bum slightly. I let out a little shriek, I assume, and I felt his chest rumble underneath me. I gave him a soft kiss before rolling off and getting under the covers.
