Ida Ruchel sat up in her bed and slammed her fist on the sleep button for her alarm, which blared like a cat being chased by a dog. Ida stretched, heard something in her back pop, and settled back into her bed. She reached for her phone, and once she had her hands intertwined in it, her brain fired up, thinking of what to say to her best friends, Hope Bidane, Bartholomew Sparks, and Nicholas Renzo. Just the thought of Nicholas, or Nick, brought a smile to her face, and a blush to her cheeks.

"Beep! Beep! Beep!" her alarm screamed again.

"Argh!" Ida said as she turned of the alarm, and stepped out of bed. She had her morning shower, and brushed her teeth until she could have used them as a prism(therefore using up half the tube of toothpaste), and when she stepped out of the restroom, she ran(or walked)straight into her younger brother, Mark. Mark was going into second grade today, and thought he should get everything ready, and was reviewing the 2 times table in his head, when he had noticed the water on longer than usual. He had stepped outside his bedroom just in time to bump into his older sister, Ida.

"Good morning, Ida." Mark said, "Did you shower long enough this morning?" Ida looked at the tips of her fingers, and when she saw what looked like raisins on the tips of her fingers, she blushed and grinned, almost blinding Mark with the shininess of her teeth.

"Yeh, sorry. I hope you have a good first day at school today." Ida said.

"You to, just in middle school." Mark replied. Ida gasped. She had forgotten that she  would go to DRMS today, instead of Robin Williams Elementary School. Ida ran to her room, almost tripping over her tabby cat, Butterball, and put on a purple shirt(with only a few sequins), jeans, and yellow socks. She hurried down the stairs, accidentally stepping on Butterballs tail, and ate a quick bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios, packed her backpack, quick as a wink, and was finishing up tying the shoelaces to her purple sneakers, when she heard a loud screeching sound from outside.

"My bus!" she exclaimed.

Ida ran outside, not stopping until she had reached the bus stop that was two blocks in front of her. Then she checked her yellow book bag.

"Hairbrush, check. Textbooks, check. Ten pencils, check..." and on until the bus arrived.

Ida stepped on the bus to be greeted by a cheery old man, who said,

"I'm Phil, your bus driver, nice to meet you. You'll find your seat labeled with a name tag." Ida walked down the aisle, until she saw a spot with her name on it. She sat down, and saw her seating partner.

"Hope!" she exclaimed.

Hope said," Ida, we'll be seating partners all year!". All of the sudden, Ida felt breathing on the back of her neck.

"Uh, I have to sit behind Nerd girl and Tomboy."
