Chapter Six
Nash
I wanted to smash something, I wanted to punch and kick, it was my coping mechanism to fight and act out. Even as a child I would trash my room when I became angry, which is why I went into fighting to earn money to train to tattoo, it was something I was good at and something I could easily spark with.
Seeing that scum being dragged out of Aurora's house, OUR house, made my blood boil; and it surely exploded when the groggy asshole spat at me pathetically to land by my feet. If he touched her, if he went near our son, I don't care that he's in cuffs I'd kill him. For her.
So when I stood waiting for an answer I couldn't help but feel like I was going to be sick. My beautiful girl sat on the couch sobbing, her face red and odd spots of blood in places on her clothes from a slight bleed on her lip and nose. No. He did this. He couldn't get away with this. I look down checking Archer but he just look tired.
"Sir, you're wife has been in an altercation, it seems that he broke in here and attacked Aurora whilst your son was upstairs. As I was saying she will need to come down to the station, as will Mrs Drake, looks like she came to the rescue just in time." The officer tells me looking up momentarily every so often whilst he writes something on a pad. "I'll give you guys a minute."
As he leaves I look to Violet who is shaking, her arms wrapped around her belly, oh shit she's pregnant. "Are you okay?" I ask softly, and guide her to the couch next to Aurora who is curled up into a ball staring at her knees.
"I'm fine, I just can't believe that just happened." She sighs her hand moving over her face and her eyes closing.
I look over at Archer eating his cookies, before I kneel down in front of Aurora. "Baby, look at me." I whisper, she seems so lost, her eyes are cold and her face is pale. They flicker up at me, a small smile graces her face before it falls again, for a moment I see her spirit before it falls.
"He was in here." She whispers, tears glossing her eyes again, her lip trembling and she tries to bite it to stop. "He tried to take my baby, he was going to take our son." The trembling of her lip is followed by a sniffle and a gulp of her breath.
"I know, baby, I know but he didn't. He's going away for a long time, he can't hurt us, I'm never going to let him hurt you again." I perch on the couch next to her, she trembles and lets a tear run from her eye followed by another.
"I love you so much." she sobs and suddenly I'm knocked back a little as she wraps her arms around my neck and pulls herself into my lap. She's home to me, I love the feeling of her pressed against me, and to just have her in my arms lets me know she's safe, I have her now. "I can't believe you hit him with a baseball bat." She chuckles over my shoulder and as she pulls away I realize she's talking to Violet.
"You did what!?" I turn wide eyed, did she not remember she's pregnant!?
"It's what best friends do." She shrugs and they exchange a look that I couldn't grasp, maybe it was trust or hope, something they connected with.
I'm not sure if it was shock, confusion or relief but I felt my head throb and I knew it was going to be a long night.

"Once there was a baby star. He lived up near the sun. And every night at bedtime that baby star wanted to have some fun. He would shine and shine, fall and shoot and twinkle oh so bright." I whispered into Archer's hair, cuddled up in my bed at my old apartment with Aurora on his other side, he fusses and wiggle against my chest.
"He said "Daddy, I'll run away if you make me say goodnight." And then his daddy kissed his sparkly nose and said," with a soft kiss to his pudgy nose he scrunches his face up, he points to my chest and chuckles.
"Dadda." He yawns.
"That's right little buddy; 'No matter where you go, no matter where you are. No matter how big you grow and even if you stray far. I'll love you forever, because you'll always be my baby star.'" When I look down at my chest I see him softly asleep, his lips puckered and dark eyelashes flush against his rosy cheeks.
I never thought I'd have a family, with what happened today, and that asshole behind bars; it confirmed to me how much I needed them in my life. I wanted her to be mine, I wanted Archer to be our son, and hell I even want more babies.
That makes me smile, in a way I'm going to be an uncle soon, maybe I could be a dad too. Looking over to Aurora something warms in my chest, she could be pregnant right now, would that make our family complete? Would she want a baby?
My eyes shift down, her stomach is covered in purpling bruises, her arms and legs are covered too and I can see the darkening red over her face. I know after what happened it's going to take time before she trusts anyone, before she can go home and we can start a new, we can start our life together.
My eyes focus in again on her belly, then to Archer, and my eyes close to see a dark haired blue eyed little girl.
