{*Mayra's POV*}
‘All new students to the hall area,’ the speakers blared as I tried to keep up with the flood of new students.
Even after five minutes, I was already completely lost. The constant stream of students, screaming and shouting over each other hurt my sensitive ears.
I followed the crowd as it travelled through long corridors with lockers, leading to the hall. I found a spare seat and sat in it, sighing, extremely nervous. I looked at the stage, waiting for the presentation ceremony to start.
A short clip started playing, showing things about the school, with a bit of One Direction thrown into the mix.
I had to stop myself from squealing as Simon suddenly came out on stage, followed by the only five boys I’d ever even thought of marrying. The crowd went wild as a hundred Directioners jumped up to scream at them from the stage.
‘Everyone calm down, please, you’ll have time to talk to the boys later, individually,’ Simon spoke into the microphone. The crowd instantly shut up and looked at him and the boys, but mostly at the boys. I personally felt myself shrink in my seat, not wanting to get any attention. I saw that a couple of the guys who had gotten into the school looked at each other amusedly.
‘Well… Usually I’d go into an incredibly long welcome speech about the rules and such, but thing is, you’ll find out about the rules and housekeeping soon anyway. So all I’m going to say is welcome!’ Simon said as their audience cheered.
‘Now if you could all arrange yourselves in alphabetical order, you will be meeting the boys shortly,’ he said and stepped down from the podium. As one big group, they all left the hall to go into a smaller room to the side, waiting to talk to the fans.
I got into the line behind a small, shy-looking guy, who was busy staring at the floor. Behind me, an obviously popular girl was ranting off to her friend, who was behind her. They were so loud I had to stop myself from clamping my hands over my ears.
As the line moved forward, I began to worry about my appearance a little more than usual. I ran a hand through my hair, wincing as I felt my fingers tangle in the knots. I straightened my shirt, although there wasn’t much to be straightened, and tugged on my shorts trying to make them a little longer. Although I didn’t wish I had put on make-up, the thing completely disgusts me, I wished that I had bothered to actually look at myself and make sure I looked presentable.
As I finally got to the front of the line, I decided that I was way to nervous for my own good. I stepped through the door, keeping my eyes on the ground.
‘Hey there. Mayra, isn’t it?’ I heard Harry say.
I looked up at him to see that he was holding a list of names, looking incredibly comical with an eyebrow raised and his expression professional. I smiled slightly, doing my best not to giggle, and nodded my head, knowing I couldn’t talk to them even if I tried.
‘Nice to meet a girl who finally doesn’t start fangirling,’ Liam said, inclining his head a little.
I realized all of a sudden they were waiting for me to say something. All five boys were staring at me, and I could feel my cheeks heating up.
‘Nice to meet you to…’ I said quietly, but a surge of confidence suddenly took over me and I looked up and met their eyes, ‘But it might still happen.’
Louis and Niall both laughed while I saw the other boys trying to hide their smiles. I smiled at them sheepishly, and looked down at the floor again.
‘Time’s up. Nice to meet you, Mayra,’ Louis said.
I straightened myself and started walking, my heart pounding in my chest from nervousness. I suddenly felt a pair of arms circle around me as I got spun around and pulled into a hug, curls bouncing in my eyes, not that I minded. Harry let go of me and winked.
