Chase's POV

The snow hadn't even been falling long, but it was think enough to leave prints. Everything was silent in my office, like it always was. There was know laughing in the house, like there used to be.

"Chase!" Nate yelled busting into my office, "There was an attack on the Clear Water pack to the East."

"Send fighters." I looked up from my paper work to his face.

"Are you coming?"

"Do I ever?" I shrugged.

He closed the door softly. I sat still until I could know longer hear his footsteps, before I sigh.

We had remodeled the entire property. There were now enough smaller homes to houses the entire pack. We down sized a little on the main pack house. It now only houses all the high ranks, but when they found their mates and had children they had to move, excluding Nate. I had to keep him close.

I took a deep breathe before returning to the never ending amount of work on my desk.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

It took me a second to realize it was the front door. Know one ever knocks. The only people that ever need inside live here.

The knocking became louder and more frantic. I jogged down the stairs and to the door.

"There was a doorbell." a soft voice whispered.

"Well I didn't see it." someone scolded the other.

They knocked again before I jerked the door open.

When I opened it I didn't see anyone until I looked down.

"Can I help you?"

"Ah-ah Alpha Chase?" the little girl asked.

"Yes and you are?"

"I'm Grace and this Thomas. We are from the Clear Water Pack." she nodded.

It took a second to realize the Alpha and Luna must of sent them here for safety, "Come in."

"Can I have something to eat? I ran all the way!" Thomas dragged out.

"Of course." I chuckled.

I made two sandwiches and gave them chocolate milk which was practically all we had in the house.

I stood leaning on the counter top of the island. They sat on the stools devouring their sandwiches.

"Oh! Um-Shay? I think that was her name? Yeah, Shay," she nodded my heart clenched and I took a deep breathe as she rummaged through her pocket, "she told me to make sure I gave this to you."

"What!?"

She jumped slightly before handing me the note, "Yeah. She said it was really important."

I jerked the crumpled paper from her hand.

Shay was there. This girl had seen her and talked to her. She was alive and well, well enough to think about sending a note and these children to me.
