Taken By You

"Mom?! Where's my sunscreen?" I shout. I can't believe he asked me! Jack looks soooooo cute in his profile picture! Of course mom doesn't know that I've never actually met him, but I feel I know him!!! He has gorgeous blue eyes and olive skin. I think he's Italian.... He also has brown hair and lots of freckles. He is the man of my dreams, and he's tall too! I met him on Facebook through a friend, and I finally get to meet him today! I told my mom I'm going to the beach with Janine and Bethany, but I did not tell her Jack is coming too. He's 14, just a year older than me. And I'm sooooooooooooooo excited!!!!

"Hurry! We're gonna be late!" Mom shouts. She is so annoying sometimes. I look in my full length mirror and smile. My new bikini is perfect, and the fake tanner I used last night makes me look perfectly golden. I hope he thinks I'm cute! I really hope Bethany doesn't look better than me as she always does. I'm so jealous of her! And she knows Jack! That's how I met him! She knows him from her friend who she met on Facebook. But Bethany and Janine are my best friends so I have to pretend I don't want to be alone with just Jack.

As we head off the island, I hear Mom's phone ring.

"Hello? Julie hi! Oh wow! I'm sorry.... Well... Do you need me.... Oh ok I can do that......... I'm actually headed to the beach right now..... With Stevie........... I'll talk to her....... Ok thanks! Tell you mom to feel better!"

"What was that all about?" I question.

"Well Julie was supposed to pick up Jeff up from day care but her mom got sick so I have to pick him up. That means I can't go to the beach with you... Are you alright going by yourself?"

This is perfect! Just what I needed! Now I don't have Mom to watch over me and I can meet Jack earlier!

"Hey Bethy! Where's Janine?" I shout as my feet touch the hot sand.

"She's not going to be able to make it... She's grounded. She snuck out with Sean and you know."

"Oh well where's Jack?" Do I sound desperate? Because I am! I wanna see his gorgeous features in person.

" I don't know.... Stevie I gotta tell you something. Please don't be mad. Well, here's goes nothing. I've never actually met Jack. He friend requested me on FB and I said yes and he started talking and he's really nice and I think you'd like him but-"

" It's ok, Bethy. I feel like I know him, so lets just look out for him while we spend this emergency money my mom gave me!!!"

" Sounds good" she says, with that big smile on her face.

That's no big deal, right? Why would I be mad? It's not like I'm meeting a stranger! I know Jack, and I think he likes me. I should just focus on not being a dork.

OMG OMG OMG I think I see him!! There's this guy who has brown hair looking around, he's walking over here.... And he just passed me. WHERE IS HE!!! My nerves are going out of control. I can't even focus on the ice cream I'm eating!!! Focus Stevie, focus. I see Bethy getting anxious too. Bethy lays down her towel and starts to tan. I join her, but can't seem to sit still. Obviously this "date" wasn't important enough to him. I feel like Jack is not that kind if person though. He wouldn't do this to me.

"I need to walk off my nerves. Wanna come with?" I ask Bethy, obviously disturbing her.

"Ugh fine. Why are you nervous? It's just a boy!"

"I know, I know but I really wanna give off a good impression."

"I know Jack, he wouldn't be this late! I mean its already been an hour! His mom must be stuck in traffic.... Or lost...." I say, worry creeping into my throat.

"You need to relax. Your making this a way bigger deal than it actually is." She said, talking at the same rhythm as her feet.

That's Bethy for you, always chill. I don't see how she does it! Once on Christmas, some of her presents were destroyed when her roof got a leak. I asked her If she felt sad and she just said "naw... It's whatever" I would have flipped.... But I'm like that. Bethy and I are such opposites, but Janine evens us out. I'm starting to doubt Jack. I mean, I have his number. Shouldn't he have texted me? Maybe he found out about Math Team! I should've listened to Janine, Math Team is for complete geeks. Like me. Would he actually ditch me because of it?

"Heyyyyyyy babe!" A drunken man shouts. What a creep. I turn around and hook arms with Bethy. I'm glad Janine isn't here. She would've said something.

"Bayyyyyybay!! Coooome here!!!!" He says, slurring his words. Definitely drunk. Is he talking to me? Who the hell does he think he is?! I can see Bethy getting irritated. I really hope she doesn't say anything.

"Waaiiiiiiit a sec. Babyyyy. Give daddy some luuuuv" He shouts, pointing at me. I turn around in Disgust. How dare he? Now I wish Bethy would say something.

"Get away creep" Bethy says. She read my mind. Bethy spits at his feet and turns her back to him.The red eyed man stumbles even closer to us; close enough to smell the alcohol. He grabs us by our shirts and holds us up. "LET ME GO LET ME GO LET ME-" I shout until he puts his gross hands on my mouth. "Shut up" he shouts at me. I can't even think. How could this be happening. I start to sob, thinking of Jack. What will this stranger do to us in his drunken rage. I can't even imagine... " and for you, how dare you spit at me!!" He screams to Bethy, spitting in her face. Bethy and I shout and scream to our best of ability, but no one is around. If Jack wouldn't have been late, then I wouldn't have taken a walk and had this man talk to us in the first place. We are both in a rage, struggling to free ourselves. Will he kill me? Rape me? His grip tightens and I lose my breath. I slowly hear Bethy's screams become even more faint. Stay strong Bethy. Don't let him take us.
