Say something!

My mind kept telling me this as we both stay in an awkward silence.

" So um-" I was cut off by him interrupting.

" Don't." He replied bluntly.

" Don't what?"

" Don't get attached to me, you'll only end up with a broken heart..." It seemed like he wanted to say more but he wouldn't continue. He glanced at the moon and then he looked at his watch.

Nick stop stealing!" I slapped his hand away as he tried to steal another fry.

" I am a growing boy and I need Kylie Jenner's ass so let me eat in peace."

" Ugh whatever." I said as I groaned, letting him the rest of my fries. I had lost my appetite.

" ATTENTION STUDENTS WE ARE ON LOCKDOWN, THIS IS NOT A DRILL DO NOT LEAVE THE CAMPUS PLEASE FIND THE NEAREST CLASSROOM!"

After listening to the loud speaker, everyone had rushed out of the cafeteria. Forgetting to throw all their plates away, leaving them on the table. It was beginning to get croweded as everyone tried to get to the door at the same time. But I had made it through at some point.

I had lost Nick in the jumble of students but I had managed to find an empty classroom.

Room 213

I quickly closed the door behind me making sure to lock it. I slid down the door closing my eyes to shut out the sound of footsteps and the shutting of doors. A tear shed down my face. I'm not a person to cry but the thought of someone out there with a gun or something... it just frightened me.

I opened my eyes to see the boy I had dreamed about.

In this dream I'm always running through the trees. I don't know what I'm going to. Or trying to get away from but as I'm running, I keep seeing flashes of him.

Hunter.

He gets closer every time I blink. But since I'm too busy trying to see him when I close my eyes, I end up at a cliff . As I fall he appears in front of me to catch me. But every time out hands are about to meet, I wake up.

" What are doing here?!" I asked, pulling myself out of my trance.

" Um there's a classroom and it's a lockdown. Figure it out." He said beginning to pace around the classroom looking frustrated.

" What's wrong?" But before I got an answer there some violent knocks on the door. I jumped.

"RUN!" I was hesitant but I ran to the window trying to get out. But before I could escape something grabbed my legs, pulling me back inside. I was pushed to the ground. The man drew his fist back as if he was going to punch me and I put my hands in front of my face, getting ready for the pain. I heard a hard slap and punch and when I opened my eyes the man was lying on the floor next to me.

I quickly ran back to the window and ran away from the school. I stopped by the lake to catch my breath. Then I finally began to process what happened.

What if he wanted me to get some help? What if he expected me to come back with a weapon?

" Ugh I'm such an idiot." Cue the face palm.

" I think lots of people could validate that." I turned around, stunned that he actually came back.

I watched as he cupped his hands in the lake using the water to wash his sweaty face. It was getting late. He took a glance at the moon but quickly looking back at me to see if I'd noticed. But I looked away, pretending I didn't.

" Do you hear that?" He said all of a sudden.

I tried listening but I heard nothing. As if on cue, two gunmen emerged from behind the bushes. He lead me a ditch under a tree. We sat there holding our breaths until we were sure they were too far to hear us.

But neither one of us left the spot under the tree.

Say something.

My mind kept telling me this as we both sat in an awkward silence.

" So um-" I was cut off by him interrupting.

" Don't." He said bluntly.

" Don't what?"

" Don't get too attached to me, you'll only end up with a broken heart..." It looked like he wanted to say more but he wouldn't continue. He glanced at the moon and looked at his watch. His eyes widened as if he was surprised by the time.

" I need to go." He said abruptly then he turned and left. By the time I thought of chasing him, he was already gone. I guess he was gone. I turned to begin the two mile walk home.
