X'mas wish (Midori x Suicidal!Reader)

"Dear diary,
Today is finally the day, today it's finally 25 December 20xx,Christmas day, this is my final entry. 
It started on December 1st, now there's no turning back, I decided to do this on my own free will, please do not look for me. I have stated my reasons in the previous entries, I know you will hate me for doing this, but you can finally be happy now, won't you? You won't have to see me anymore, you won't need to deal with my nonsense anymore. You must be happy now, aren't you?
Even though my wish is left unfulfilled,
I made my promise, and I will fulfill it. I'm just so tired already. 
 Good night. - (Y/n) (L/n)"

You dropped you dairy. You looked down at the wonderful scenery in front of you, "Ah, such a fitting place for me to rest, I can finally be part of Snowfall Lake. I can rest easy now... yet... why do these tears still fall? Why am I hesitant to leap now? Why of all times am I afraid? I can finally rest easy and let go now, I can finally be set free now, yet why can't I just take this step?"

Your tears won't stop falling, you felt weak in your knees,collapsing to your knees, you cried out, "Why.... why can't I do it? No one on this earth cares about me anymore, I'm only just a nuisance to everyone, that's why mom and dad abandoned me that night, that's why my my foster parents fight, that's why everyone leaves me. I'm no longer needed I am only just a  nuisance...." You trailed off while staring into the lake 'such a crystal clear lake,I want to be part of this lake too' 

You calmed down while viewing your reflection. Slowly standing up, you walked towards the end of the wooden walkway. 'Good night' 

You took your final step. One moment above water, the next, air was running out of your lungs. Your lungs hurt, they were screaming out for air, your mind was fading, vision began to blur, even your hearing started to become unreal. 

"Oi!" You hear a muffled voice, you see a fuzzy silhouette. Your lungs started giving up, it's already been at least a minute since you gave up. Your mind was still awake, fading but still there, your conscious fading, you closed your eyes, awaiting rest. 

"Oi! Oi! Wake up! Get a hold of yourself!" you hear that same muffled voice 'am I dead already?' You thought as your vision slowly recovered,you could still breathe, but barely hanging on.

"hurry she needs emer....." The voice trailed off.

' I wonder if this is what eternal rest feels like, I wonder if this is what people go through when they depart from the living, I wonder if this is what they call Heaven. Everything is so quiet now, finally some peace, is this really the end? This place of darkness... It's kinda lonely...' 

"Wake up"

' Huh? Is someone there? Of course there isn't. No one should even be able to be here apart from me alone, because no one will search for me, no one will ever remember me anyway'

"Wake up"

'Again? This voice... I heard it before... but...where and when? I'll follow it, I might be able to find answers'

"This way, Wake up"

' Is that.... light? wait.. there's a person there.... who? Who are you? Hey,person, wait! Who are you?'

"That's right, follow me, this way."

You opened up your eyes,seeing white all over, you can't get up "ugh..." throat feels dry,vision still blurry,a pounding headache.

"Oh, you're awake. How are you feeling?" You see that figure again, the same figure you saw in that lake when you were about to pass out. "W-whu......." You winced at the pain, every time you try to talk, your throat hurts like sandpaper rubbing against it. 

He handed you a notepad and pen "What is it?" he spoke. Such a gentle voice.

'Who are you? Where am I? This is certainly not heaven nor hell.' You scribbled the best as you can in your weak state and handed him the notepad. 

He smiled "I'm Midori Nagamasa, I work as a doctor in this hospital and I saved you from drowning." he handed you back the notepad 'how did you know i was there? Why did you save me? You should have already seen my diary, so why continue my suffering?'

He received the notepad as you looked at him. "Well, I was around the area, heading home when you tried to drown, I work as a doctor to save people so I can't let you drown, and yes, I've read your diary, you have no reason to continue living, so I thought I could give you a reason." 

'?' He chuckled "I need you on my team. You see, I read through your diary, you are excellent with shooting moving targets, receiving multiple awards for different shooting competitions. I need your skills on my team to continue winning." You were lost with what this doctor was trying to say, " There's a certain sport called Survival Games where everyone,of  any age and gender can play to take down others on a battlefield with real guns but fake bullets. Much like paintball only less messy and more thrilling. You will join my team won't you? You have no other reasons to live anyway, why not be useful to me?" He smirked "Oh don't worry about shelter and what not, I have prepared a place for you to stay and you will be working in this hospital as my assistant, but if you refuse to take up my offer, I'll gladly inject this  poison into your bloodstream now" 

He threatened with a syringe filled with green substance. 

You were already prepared for death, but he needed you, so you agreed to join his team.

It has already been a year since you were given a reason to live. Last year Hoshishiro won first place during the TGC, earning Hoshishiro another year of first place. 

It was christmas once more, you looked down at your phone,checking the time 'damn he's late' you thought as Midori asked you out on a Christmas date. You were overjoyed to hear him ask you out instead of Ichi who has been with him for a long time now. 

Since he was late, you thought back about last christmas's event, about who you were willing to give up already, about how you threw yourself into Snowfall Lake,about how no one needed you. Then you remembered the reason why you were standing in front of the station, waiting for the green haired male, he gave you a reason to live when all you could think of was to die, he saved you from the lake when you wanted to drown, he was your savior and after all these time of playing survival games with his team, it made your love for him grow.

You kept quiet about it, you convinced yourself that what you felt was not love but gratitude, you were convinced that you were only living now because he saved your life, so you did not want to throw it away again, you did not want to end up in that dark place, all alone again.

"Oi! (Y/n)! Sorry I'm late! Something came up last minute!" You were snapped out of your daydream by his voice,you turned to see him running towards you. You waved back,signalling you were there. "Sorry, did you wait long?" You giggled at his panting state "Mmm" you shook your head,earning a smile from him.

"Hey,(Y/n), let's go. I wanna show you something" He grabbed your wrist and took you to a lake, it was Snowfall Lake! "Snowfall Lake... Why.... why here? Why bring me back to this place?" You were confused, you wanted to know what wa the reason behind his choice of Snowfall Lake,the place where you wanted to fulfill your promise, but instead you got a reason to live, the first time you met him, the first encounter.

"(Y/n)..You turned to face him "Ye-" before you could finish, his lips met yours.  Tears started rolling down your cheeks, his lips parted from yours "What's wrong (Y/n)?" he tilted his head sideways.

"Thank you for fulfilling my wish, Nagamasa-kun" That was the first time you called him by his given name, and the first time you confirmed your feelings. He kissed back, as if accepting your answer.

'That's right, my wish was to have a reason to continue living'
