(Cameron's POV)
The text read...
SCARLET: Hi Cam. I was wondering if you would be able to drive me to school tomorrow. Sorry to ask you on such short notice. If you can't, I understand too.
She sent this message about an hour ago. I felt like I loser responding to it so late, but I want her to get an answer.
CAMERON: Hey Scarlet! Sorry for not responding, it took me forever to get out of work. But yeah, I'll pick you up at your house at say, 7:00am?
And as if Scarlet was impatiently waiting by her phone, she answers almost immediately.
SCARLET: Cool! See you then!

Next morning...
I got ready for school just as normal. Okay, I did spray an ounce more cologne than normal. All I could think about is Scarlet. I feel like my own worst enemy though. She and I have been best friends for years, and it would be hard for me to just jump right out of the friend zone. Then there is the other side that is saying, "Why don't you kiss her?"
At about 6:40 am, I head out the door. I don't think one part of my body has stopped shaking for a minute. I throw my bag in the back seat, and cross my fingers, hoping for the engine to start. When it finally does, I breathe a sigh of relief.
When I finally get to the house, I can see Scarlet in the kitchen window. Her hair is sitting gently on her shoulders. She has to do a double-take, but then she finally sees me in her driveway. She gives me a hesitant wave, then disappears for a second. Scarlet comes to the front door and brushes off her jeans. She looks down at her phone, then gets to the car, reaching for the handle with her free hand.
"Hey!" I say, trying to start a conversation.
"Hey Cam. Thanks SO much for driving me in today. I really did not want to take the bus today." Scarlet says, plopping herself in the passenger seat.
I look over at Scarlet and just catch her glance. The hairs stand up on the back of my neck, and I think I held my breath for a second or two. Once again, I pray the car will start, then head off. The first couple minutes of the car ride were silent.
"So...what was the real reason you wanted me to drive you today?" I say, making a curious grin at her.
I can see the smoke coming out of ears as she tries to forge a plan up. "Um...I...uh, had to ask you why you decided to give me your number?"
At first I'm blown back at the fact that she just blurted that out. "Well. I think we should talk more. You are, like, one of my bestest friendzies in the world! You know that." I say.
Scarlet looks down at her phone, and goes to the home screen. I glance over for a second just to be nosy, and then I see the picture she has as her home screen. It's a collage of pictures of me...
