During the time that I was healing, I was looking for apartments online in my phone when it vibrated in my hands and the ID screen lit up showing his name.

So with a sigh, I accepted the call and put the phone to my ear and didn't greet him.

He cleared his throat, "Look, I know what I did was wrong but I just wanted the best for my daughter. Is that necessarily wrong?"

My reply? Silence. Every time he had called I never really talked to him. I didn't need to and didn't want to. The man sighed on the other side, "Look, I'm sorry. I just want things to be right again."

And just like that I bursted out laughing. "YOU, want to make things right?! Hah!" I continued laughing then my voice turned cold like ice and spat venomously, "I would like to see you try putting a mentally disabled drunk back to a loving and caring mother and piece back a broken little girl whose mother beat her senseless until she was laying in her own blood."

"Oh wait, that's right, you can't! The drunk is long gone out of her mind and is delusional sitting in an alleyway waiting for a disgusting old turd to grope her and the broken little girl was pieced back together by the in-laws you accused of being monsters."

"But I guess you weren't wrong about that last part. They are horrible monsters." As I spat those last words out, my chest caved in. It's been three weeks and I miss both of them terribly. As much as I want to forgive them, I couldn't. Not until I find out myself their big secret.

"So they told you?" He asked shockingly.

I stayed silent. Does that mean he knows their secret too? A sigh was heard on the other line, "I guess it is time they told you. So to make it clearer for your sake, yes, you are a werewolf and have the blood of it running in you."

"What?" I gasped shocked. I'm a what?! "When? How?!"

"You're mother was a werewolf. I was a human and her mate. A mate in this case is short for soul mate. Someone you will spend eternity with and love with your all."

My shoulders slumped. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I just couldn't. "How do you know I'm one like her?"

"Well, we're all just assuming. They said we wouldn't know until around your eighteenth birthday when the transformation starts. It could happen earlier, the day on or after but if it doesn't happen, you're not one."

I covered my mouth as the information sinks in. The woman is a werewolf whose soulmate is the man. I could either be a human or a monstrous werewolf. I kept my breathing even and steady. "You said a soulmate is someone you spend your whole life with and love with your all but what happened between the two of you?"

It was silent a moment with his heavy shaky breathing on the other side. "I hadn't known she was one until she showed me three years after you were born. I...I got scared and felt disgusted. But after years of the separation, I still have feelings for your mother."

"Her wolf was elegantly beautiful with its light gray fur," he sighed as if remembering her. "Biggest regret ever."

I huffed. "I'm a freakin-"

"You are not allowed to let anyone else know. If you do, bad people will come after you to kill you. Do you understand Leena?" He said quickly.

"Mr. Rykal, the meeting is starting in twenty," I heard a man say on the other line and then a door shutting. "Leena, remember what I said. No one is to know. I have to go to a meeting so I'll call you some other time."

I hung up on him and looked down to my shaking hands. My breathing became heavy and my heart was racing. So that was their big secret that they couldn't tell me? I might be freaking werewolf and I won't know it until the week of my birthday.
