Today was the day.

The kids were arriving. Was I dreading this moment? Yes. But was I excited? Yes.

I grew up going to this camp and I learned so much from it and now I get to teach the kids what I learned. It was such a fun process to be in.

The first girl arrives. She was about 13 and had long brown hair that looked like it hadn't been cut in a long time. She smiled at me with a brace free smile and started waving. I guess she knew I was her counselor.

"Hi," she says while coming up to me with all of her luggage,"I am Katie. I think I'm in your cabin."

I check my list and then smile at her. Confirming her assumption.

"Well howdy Katie, I am Carrie and I hope you are ready for a great summer!" I tell her while putting one of her bags in the back of the golf cart. "Once everyone gets here, we can go up together to put our stuff in the cabins!"

While I was grabbing her last bag, I turned around to put it in the golf cart and accidentally knocked someone over.

"Shi.t, I'm sorry," I mumble under my breath.

I then notice those sparkling hazel eyes looking at me. Then a dimple appeared on his face and I started to smile.

Of course I ran into Ashton. Why couldn't it have been one of the other boys because Ashton just makes me weak in the knees. And I'm not kidding.

I extend a hand out to help him up, "You okay?"

"Yeah, yeah. I'm fine," he laughs while brushing off the dirt from his outfit. "See ya around Carrie."

I then turn back around to see that more campers had arrived but before I could get anything out, all I heard them say was , "Ooooooh"

"Who was that?" A girl asked.

"Doesn't matter," I laugh, "Now who are you?"

"My name is Bella"

"Nice to meet you!"

"Was that your boyfriend," Bella asked.

"No, of course not! He was way too hot for her," Nicole says.

I laugh and then roll my eyes at her. I had known Nicole for years. Ever since I started working for the youth group actually. She always teased me and I didn't mind because I knew she looked up to me a lot.

"He's a counselor that works here and--" I start to say.

"Oh my gosh! That's Ashton Irwin!!" Katie screams. She then notices a a blonde haired boy with a lip piercing walk by, her jaw drops, "A-and that's Luke Hemmings!! Where are Michael?? And Calum?"

"Listen, they are here for a normal summer, okay everyone?"

"But they're not normal." Katie states with her hands placed on her hips.

"Just treat them like they are. Other wise, y'all will be sleeping outside."

Sam then comes running up to me and my girls. "Hey everyone!" And the girls tackle him with a hug. "I'm here to take your luggage up to your cabins! So make sure it's all in the back of the golf cart otherwise you're dragging it up yourself!"

Sam gets in the drivers seat and starts the golf cart. He looks around seeing that all my campers had arrived and successfully put their things in the back.

"Why don't y'all go up and unpack, okay?" I look around at them. "I'll be up in a minute."

Before Sam drove up he threw a piece of paper at me. I bent over to get it and he quickly drove away, the girls following him.

Hey Carrie,
Let's have some fun tonight. Come to my cabin at 11 pm. All of the counsellors are going to get to know each other a little bit better.

Uh-oh. This was going to be one interesting night.

After a few ice breaker games, dinner, a skit and a night game, the girls were finally getting into bed.

I stopped by their cabins to say goodnight and make sure that the lights were out. Luckily, they were dead asleep.

I walk to my cabin to change into a sweatshirt since the nights got cold here and some leggings. I read my watch that said 11:12 pm. Perfect.

I end up at Sam's cabin and softly knock.

"Come in," he says.

I open the door seeing everyone there sitting on the floor. What in the world was going on?

Sam looks at me and then pats the seat next to him, inferring me to sit there.

"Look what we have," he pulls out a bag full of candy and I laugh.

"I love candy!!" I sit down next to him grabbing the bag and devouring a handful of the sour patch kids.

"Dammi.t Carrie! That wasn't normal candy," Sam explained with a worried look. "Those were edibles and you just had like 4!"

I'm not even going to remember the first real night. What kind of Jesus camp was this?
