-Just a quick note, my chapters are extremely small as I originally posted this story onto Instagram, my followers recommended that I posted It onto this website so I did! Happy reading;) I stared over the lush green forests of district 7 as I waited for the reaping taking place later on today, everything was silent, no people, no birds, nothing. I swept my long dark wavy hair over my shoulder as I fixed the dress my mother had told me to wear for the deadly occasion. It was a horrid faded lilac dress that flowed just past my knees. It was once my mothers, I could almost smell the stale smell of sweat that must have come from her when she wore it at the reaping a long time ago. Suddenly I noticed a figure walking out from the lush green tree's which slowly formed into two. It was Cinder and Ash, the twins i had been friends with for as long as I could remember. "Nice dress" Ash smirked as he sat down beside me. "Didn't you wear that one last year?" Cinder laughed as she sat down the other side of me. "I wear it every year" I snapped without thinking. "We know!" They both said at the same time. I rolled my eyes and stood up. "Come on then, I suppose we'll have to get down to the reaping, we don't want to be late" they both stood up immediately and followed me like puppies down to the reaping. It was going to be the 73rd hunger games this year, It was Cinder and Ash's last year in the reaping as they were both eighteen but I still had a year to go as I was only seventeen. I guess the odds had always been in my favour when it came to reaping day because my name had only been entered in once every year and I had no other siblings to worry about, so I never really got nervous about reaping day. I practically skipped over to where I was to have my blood taken and hopped into the line of nervous children awaiting their fate, the jolly capitol women welcomed us all and played the same video they did every year about the rebellion of the 13 districts. Then the time came for the deadly raffle. The jolly capitol women daintily picked out the name of the poor soul that was to be this years female tribute and read out the name... "Darcy Quinn!" What? No! Wait! This must be a mistake! It couldn't be me, my names only in the bowl 7 times, some people's names are in there over 40 times! But I soon remembered that no one was safe when it came to the games... As I stepped up onto the platform I stared at Cinder and Ash looking at me full of shock and sorrow. All I could think of was the fact that I would never see my two best friends again. The capitol women then picked out the name of the male tribute "Axe Arch!" She called. I knew this name.. Axe was a quiet boy, very big and muscular, dark skin and chocolate brown eyes, I never really spoke to him. He glared at me as he stepped up onto the platform. I took one last look at my beloved district before they took us into the justice building, and then it was gone.. Just like that...
