The silver egg practically glowed as I held it in my hands.
"Are you sure?" I ask my grandfather.
"Positive. It is yours." He sets the alder wood case on the table, scoops the egg out of my hands and gently places it in the case. "It was my mother's prized possession. She wanted it passed on to the next woman in her bloodline. Since she only had sons, and I only had sons, you are the first in the bloodline."
"Why only women?" I ask, glancing at the box.
"She once told me that there was a secret code to open it and the female mind could solve it." Grandpa picks up the case and hands it over to me. I take it reluctantly.
"Oh."
