Chapter One

Leaving public school was probably one of the most hardest things I could ever do. Then again, it was probably of the most easiest too. Just imagine leaving it if you haven't already. Being so used to this kind of schedule of getting up really early in the morning and going to school five days a week from September to October and then having summer as a vacation.

Then suddenly, it's all gone. You're done. Quite the accomplishment in life.

Some of my friends drive but I declined the offer when they asked me if I wanted a ride back home. Regularly, I walk home from school after the day is over. There were so many cars rushing out of the school parking lot as I calmly strolled upon the sidewalk. Everything around me felt warm and happy. Hearing some of the students yelling and bursts of laughter from the excitement of either finishing school for the year or for starting their new lives.

I can admit that I was excited too. Although I had other things on my mind. As I kept walking I took one last time enjoying the view of the beautiful blossoming colorful trees as I walked further away from the school building. Look back at it, I grinned, as if to say good bye…

One step of the other, my bright pink shoes kept leading me away into what I will make of my life. Unlike other kids and teens, this topic would appear in my mind occasionally. But for me, I know there is no need for me to worry. School would always press the question of what we want to do as our future career. I'd always get stressed because I thought it was hopeless for what I was coming up with.

If I fall, I know who will catch me.

I smiled widely at the ground as that thought came to mind. I lifted my head up to embrace my happiness into the world. Right now, my priority was to go to Starbucks and get a nice delicious chocolate smoothie. My aunt and I go there occasionally while we're out running errands. Today I decided to treat myself on my own.

I prefer to take the longer ways down different streets to get into town because it's a lot more calm. Public transportation can get me paranoid especially with cars. Luckily for me, my friends aren't stupid. They don't drive and text while they're going 40mph. They don't drive like James Bond when they're making a turn.

My trust is in my friends completely and I feel safe with them.

Not only is it less chaotic taking the longer way, it's so much more beautiful in it's own way. Walking past the shady green lawns with their own decorations. From cute little lawn gnomes to having apple trees radiating it's scent and blooming it's true self.

For my benefit as well, it's more exercise.

Most of my friends hate the idea of going further than what is needed when we're going out into town. Some may even guilt me by complaining about it. But my true friends either don't try to make me feel bad about it or they may even love the idea of taking a longer stroll.

When I eventually got to Starbucks, the first thing I felt was the washing of the cold air from the air conditioning. It was so refreshing from being in the heat. There was a little bit of a waiting line but being me, I don't mind. I zoned out and saw assorted ages of people. A couple elderly people at a table for two, some toddlers holding hands with their mother as she is reassuring them about what they want. I shifted my feet in place as the line began to move.

Once I ordered I waited at the other end to the serving area. I watched as the young man made my chocolate smoothie. I smiled and thanked him once he handed me the cold plastic cup. Spotting an unoccupied high chair I took my seating in it and sipped on my smoothie. That flavoring never gets old to me.

I pulled out my phone and saw a new message from Harry. I smiled feeling like seeing that made my day. I unlocked the message to reveal to me the full text.

Harry
