You were my sunshine, my only sunshine...

It was the first day of school. Everyone was excited to see and look forward to the new school year, along with the new adventures that awaited them. Everyone was up and early, ready for the new day... well... not everyone. Everyone... except me...

"Why is this always happening to me?!" I groaned out loud, my feet thumping down the school's floor. Of course, I knew why. I had this sickness that suddenly makes me asleep, resulting to my grumpiness to everyone. If I hadn't had that thing, or even played video games all night, I won't be late at the first day!

But NO! I just to HAVE that, AND played all night! I knew I should've listened to grandma...

And that's not the only reason why I was late.

I don't even KNOW where my classroom is, or WHO my classmate is.

Why is? I only have one classmate, because I'm in the 'Special Needs' class, due to my sickness.

Ugh, will this day be any worse?

"Oof!"

A large body bumped into me, and because I was pretty light, I pretty much fell into my butt.

"O-oh! I'm so sorry, I--" The voice, obviously a male, stopped apologizing when he saw my face. Really, are my eyes really that unpleasant? "A-are you by any chance, Takane?"

I blinked confusedly at the mention of my name. "Yeah... why?"

The male suddenly grinned, which I noticed his mole just below his right eye, his incredibly messy hair, and adorkable grin—wait, what am I thinking?!

"I'm Haruka, your new classmate!"

You made me happy, when my skies are gray...

"Good morning, Takane!" Haruka greeted me cheerfully, to which I replied back, but with some sleepiness. I walked to my desk, taking a seat, and... started spacing out, as per usual.

It's been almost five months since I met Haruka, and we somehow had become friends, as strange as it is. Well, now that I think about it, it isn't since we were the "Sick Kids" after all. Speaking of sick, Haruka's sickness was much worse than mine, that also makes his body weaker and a attack could cause him his life. Day by day, we've been closer... and I think, I kind of had a crush on him... but I'm not interested! Like I'll like an adorable black messy haired, mole-near-the-eye amazing artist like him!

"Hey Takane, look!"

I screeched at his sudden words, and his sketchbook shoved in my face.

"HARUKA! Don't scare me like that!" I glared at him. He only laughed, being used to my death glare.

"Okay, okay... just look at it!" He eagerly smiled, placing his sketchbook at my desk. "It's the boss in the shooting game that we are going to make for the festival, and I'd like to know what do you think--"

"T-t-that's... ME!" I shrieked, pointing at the drawing. It's unmistakable! It has my pigtails, and my angry look down. He nervously laughed.

"Ah... well, since it was your idea to have a shooting game, I just thought it would be awesome that you'll be in the—"

I cut him off again, "Didn't you hear me a few days ago? I'll play the game too!" It would be really awkward if there is another me in the game.

His face suddenly fell. "Oh..." I felt something punch in my heart, and guilt was all over it.

Biting my lip, I spoke, "B-but... I liked it..."

He brightened up at my words, "Really?" I blushed slightly at his amazing smile, and I looked away.

"Y-yeah... b-but if you're going to use that in the game, you better change the color or something!"

"Hehe, sure!" He suddenly grinned. "You look really cute while blushing, Takane."

"HARUKA!"

You never know, dear, how much I love you...

"Hey, Haruka..." I stopped talking when I saw him playing Dead Bullet. "Still playing?"

He smiled warmly at me, and I felt the butterflies yet again. "Yeah! Though it's pretty gory and everything, it's pretty enjoyable!" He turned to the game. "And look! Konoha almost made it into the top ten!"

I raised my eyebrows, "Konoha?"

"Ah, he's my in-game character, just like yours is Ene!" He pointed at the adorable chibi-like albino in the screen. "See, that's him!"

"Oh..." I felt the edges of my cheeks twitch upward. "Well... will you help me with that math homework? I'm a bit stuck in number nine..."

He sheepishly smiled at me. "Sorry, Takane. Maybe a bit later? I'm still in the middle of the level... you could sleep for a bit while waiting!"

I nodded in understanding, knowing that I'll do the same, and partly I wanted to sleep. It's not bad to wait, right? "Okay, just wake me up if anything happens, 'kay?" He nodded in response, chuckling a bit, probably because of what I said. It did sound a bit overprotective... ah, who cares? I'm being a bit soft around him nowadays...

Pulling out my headphones, I lowered my head, listening to the upbeat tune of the newest pop idol's song.

Soon enough, I was gone, drifting through the depths of sleep.

"Mmnh..." I slowly opened my eyes. "H-Haruka? Why didn't you wake me up?" I rose up from my position, and looked at him. He was slumped over and looked asleep. "Haruka?" Worried, I walked towards him and kneeled down to see his face. I tried shaking him, but he still didn't wake up. I tried to find a pulse.

"No..." Tears stung my eyes, liquid dripping down my cheeks. "H-Haruka! P-please! Wake up!" I can't stop crying, the pain in my chest was too painful to ignore. "Help! S-somebody, please!" My voice broke. I took his hand. It was cold.

How long was I asleep?

How long was he like this?

Is he... dead?

Please... no... not him... not now!

I still haven't told him... that I...

"I love y-you... Haruka..."

Please don't take my sunshine away...

Told ya it was angst. It's really rushed, though... hehe...
