After finally getting discharged, it was one hell of a car ride home. Steven had said Mom would've been there when I got discharged, but she had to work. Don't take me wrong, I love my mom, but sometimes she takes work way too seriously. But hey, someone has to support Steven and I, right?
"Hello? Earth to Squid," an irritable voice said.
"I really wish you wouldn't call me that, Bub," I said frowning.
Steven ruffled my hair, "Sorry, no can do, little sis."
I let out a sigh. Why couldn't Cole have taken me home?
As if Steven read my mind he asked, "Where's lover boy at?"
Steven asked this with way too much concern. I gave him a sideways glance. "You're scaring me, Bub. You actually sound concerned."
His grip on the steering wheel tightened as his knuckles turned white. "Squid, its my job as your older and, may I add, more mature brother to help you see some people just aren't good for you."
"What do you mean? I don't understand what you're trying to say," I said giving him a very confused look.
"Forget I even said anything, Squid," he said with a sigh.
"Bub," I said gently.
"How does pizza sound?"
"Fine."
Ten minutes later, Steven pulled into the Pizzeria parking lot. After the car was in park I quickly got out and walked to the door.
Smack!
"Watch where you're going!" I said rubbing my head. I looked up to see an amazingly shaped, masculine face, who had just hit me with a glass door. I blushed.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to hit such a beautiful young lady in the face," I earned a smirk from him.
"It's fine," I said, "The name is Sidney."
"Blake," he said extending his hand.
I took it expecting to give him a handshake, but he brought my hand up to his lips and kissed the back of my hand.
"Who the hell are you?"
Great. Leave it to Steven.
"Blake," he said with his mouth forming a tight line on his way too handsome face.
"Bub, let's go," I said taking his hand and leading him into Pizzeria. "You don't have to be such an ass all the time ya know."
"That moron was too old for you."
"I'm eighteen," I said with a smirk, "no one is too old for me."
"Quit actin' like a whore."
I slapped him across the face
"I'm leaving. Get pizza by your own damn self," I said weaving my way to the door.
I made my way to Steven's car and got out my bag, threw it over my shoulder, and shoved my iPhone into my back pocket.
It's gonna be a very long walk to Cole's.
