Chapter I: The Dragon and the Griffin

Cassandra sat in her room with her little brother, Max. Cassandra was a 17 year old girl who lived alone in London. Cassandra isn't a girl who would smile all that often, nor show most emotions. She's been depressed since the death of her parents and her little sister. Cassandra managed to save Max in time, thus involve her being depressed. She was considered an outcast to the other teens for being different. The kids threw rocks at Max for being different as well. Rocks. Max was just twelve! Every day, poor, little Max would come home with brusies and Cassandra wanted to do something about it. Of course, she was different because she was a shape shifter. A dragon to be exact. She was the last of her kind. The rest of her species were killed by the phoenix's, and Cassandra wanted to find them. She ran her fingers though her red hair, not orange red, but a Kool-Aid faded red.

A knock was heard at the door. Usually, they wouldn't get any visitors, so this was rare. Then again, her neighborhood was quite active rather than quiet. Cassandra walked downstairs and opened the door, but to see her best friend, Ethan, was a pleasent surprise.

"Ethan!" Cassandra exclaimed and she wrapped her arms around him.

Ethan was Cassandra's greatest and closest friend. She hasn't seen Ethan for five months now. He was away on a meeting of the Shape Shifters onto how to stop the Phoenix's. Cassandra was forbidden to go onto the Dragon's bad history. Ethan, like Cassandra, was a shape shifter, but a Griffin species.

"Hey Cassie!" He said, returning the hug to Cassandra.

Max ran down the stairs, hearing the familiar voice of Ethan. Max and Ethan were great buddies and they would always watch movies together, play games, and would sometimes play Football in the park.

"Ethan!" Max squealed

"Hey buddy!" Ethan said, giving Max a high five.

Cassandra smiled on the two and how they got along so well. Cassandra had a crush on Ethan since they were kids, but they just remainded in the friend zone for a long time.

"Come on in." Cassandra said, stepping out of the way for Ethan.

Ethan gladly strolled in, sitting on the couch, Max sititng next to him. Cassandra looked out the door to see if anyone was watching, which no one was, and closed the door and locked it. She sat on the seat next to the couch and on the wall was a flatscreen tv for Max. It was quite large, 56" inches and it had 3D features for Max.

"So, council meeting, how was it? And, catch me up on the details." Cassandra said.

"Well, the council said that next year you're allowed because this involves all the shape shifters. Lioness said that the Phoenix's had struck again. This time in the Wolf village. They said that they need the best spies for the job. Thus involving me. But, that's not until the near future." Ethan said.

"Ah. So, are you planning to stay here for the night if you don't have anywhere else to go?" Cassandra questioned

"Well, I guess so." Ethan replied

"Good. You take my parents room. That place hasn't been used at all. So, make yourself at home." Cassandra said.

For the rest of the night, Cassandra, Ethan, and Max watched Marvel Movies, thus involving the Avengers. The kids do not know what'd coming next, but this is only the beginning...
