(Y/N)'s P.O.V

It was a busy day in town. Today was the first day of spring and from all over, people came to see the famous Laurington Town Spring Festival. My sister and I were rushing to get ready so we could head out of the house and go to the festival. I had just put on my best dress with (F/C) material and white lace, when suddenly, my mother barged through the old cedar door that separated our room from the rest of the house.

"You're going to be late if you don't hurry up!", she exclaimed as she made her way over to my sister ,Violet, who was fixing her thick ebony curls in front of our shared vanity. "You are going to be the most beautiful girl at the festival!", my mother cooed proudly to her. You see, my mother has hopes that one day, my sister will marry a wealthy man and get rich while sharing some of the money with 'our poor old mother' as she put it.

As for me, well, she gave up on me getting married a long time ago. My mother used to make me go to all the parties that anyone of a higher ranking held, just for a chance that I would catch someone's eye. But I had never liked being shown around like a porcelain doll in a china cabinet, I'd rather be exploring in the woods right behind our simple one story house.

This all ended when I accidentally spilled my drink onto the mayor's daughter's expensive new dress. She nearly took off my head with her flailing arms while she cursed me out of the house.Lucky for me, Violet had been there to temporarily sooth her and convince her not to have me taken to jail for assault. After that, mother never let me go to any other parties (not that I was complaining) or crowded places other than the market place in town.

"Oi! (Y/N), we need to get going if we are going to make it in time for the festival." exclaimed Violet from outside the house, snapping me out of my daze. Quickly, I dashed out of our room, zoomed past our mother, and leapt out of the front door right in front of Violet, striking a superhero pose. "To the festival we go!"I yelled, making my way down the pathway that leads to the front of our house. Chuckling, Violet began following me on our trek to town. As we made our way down the main dirt road that cut it's way through the old forest that blocked our house from the town, Violet and I started to chatter about nothing and everything. On the horizon I could see the tops of buildings reaching my vision. "I'll race you there!" I screamed as I began running, the (F/C) fabric flying out behind me.

"Wait, (Y/N) hold on! Mom didn't want us to get separated! She said we had to stay together so we wouldn't get lost!"said Violet as she began pursuing me down the road. "It's fine, Vi!"I yelled back as I continued sprinting down the road ahead of her. With a final burst of speed, I ran through the town's open gates with my arms open wide. "Ha, I beat you, Vi!" I exclaimed as I twirled in circles, proud of my victory. Silence answered my prideful cry. "Vi?" I asked, normally she would have retaliated with a clever remark that would have resulted in an argument, then us making up and going on our way. I turned back around to see a strange figure holding my sister, one arm was rapped around her stomach while the other firmly held onto her mouth, her eyes screamed for help. He had flowing black hair and eyes that I could only describe as soulless or lifeless. "Vi! What are you doing with my sister you creep!" I yelled at him.

Without a word he ran into the woods still holding my sister in his arms. "Wait!" I screamed as I ran after him. The moment I broke through the first trees I could barely see him, all I could see was a quick moving shadow in the distance. I desperately began ensuing the shape and followed it deeper into the thickening forest, my dress snagging on the bushes and plants, ripping it (not that I cared). Suddenly, I lost track of him and I stood in the middle of the surprisingly dark forest ,alone. "Vi!" I began yelling "Vi! Where are you?" I knew she couldn't answer but it was worth a try. My (E/C) eyes swept over all the bushes and trees in the are, but I could not find a trace of Violet or the man. My blood began pulsing through my body at the speed of light. 'Where could they be?' I thought. 'Who was he? Why did he take Violet? What did she do to deserve this? What did I do to deserve this?' Swiftly, my eyes were taken over by tears, not only for my sister and what happened but for what mother would do to me when she found out that I was the reason Violet was kidnapped.

In a final attempt to locate my stolen sister, I began to climb the nearest tree. With ever branch I grabbed I prayed for her safety and I prayed that this was all just an elaborate joke that Violet had set up to scare me for putting bugs in her dresses the week before. No matter how much I tried to sooth myself with that thought, I knew the truth. She was kidnapped and I did nothing to help. I just stood by as that man took her away. My body was filled with fury at that thought, causing adrenaline to race through me. My grip on the branches tightened as my ascent up the tree increased in speed when I finally burst through the bright green canopy, viewing the startlingly blue sky. I swiveled my head around, search the forest like a hawk searching for it's evening meal. I let out a wail of anguish seeing that my prey was no were to be found. My mournful cry echoed throughout the forest causing birds to take flight and squirrel to scurry to safety.

I dropped from the tree, not caring how far I was from the ground. With a violent thud, I hit the ground and landing hard on my right ankle. The snap barely made it's way to my ears as I made my way to another tree with a hobble. I began punching the tree with all my might, tears blanketing my vision. My mind didn't register the pain in either my ankle or my knuckles, all I could think about was the rage and pain inside my soul that that man had caused. With a final hit I knocked the poor tree to the ground, my breath coming in short gasps. It felt good, the pain. It helped me numb the blame and pain my mind held. 'I can't go back.' I thought to myself 'Mother will hate me more than she already does and I can't face anyone in town once this gets out. They will blame me, which they rightly should.' But I couldn't see there disappointed and sad faces. That would break me even more than I already was.

'It's all his fault. If it wasn't for him, Violet and I would be having fun at the festival. We would be eating chocolate, playing games, and talking to all the other kids in town. We would have been having the time of our lives.' My (E/C) eyes began to cloud over with hate. "I will find you Violet," I promised myself "and I will find that man and rip his heart out right in front of his face. Let's see how he likes it." I muttered darkly. 'If I can't go back to town I might as well live out here. No one here to judge me but me.' And with that I made my way through my new home, searching for a place to begin my training. If I was ever going to hurt that man for what he had done, I would need to make sure I was physically and mentally ready to take him on. Finding a nice and comfortable area conveniently located next to a stream, I began setting up a camp. Looking down at my now mutilated dress that barely even covered my chest ,I grimaced. "I have no more use for you." I dully said to the ruined piece of clothing as I ripped it off my body and threw it into the nearby bushes.

With a new life before me and a burning need for revenge coursing through my veins, I started the next four years of my life, preparing to take back my sister from the monster that stole her away from me.
