*Two days after the Battle of Hogwarts. All credit and thanks goes to the amazing J. K. Rowling*
Ginny sat on her bed. She had tried to sleep, but her thoughts were far too busy. She was always either thinking about the people they lost in the battle, especially Fred and Tonks, or she was think about Harry. She felt incredibly stupid for thinking about Harry, because it had been two days and he hadn't bothered to talk to her. She was sure he didn't fancy her anymore, but that didn't keep her thoughts from him.
She sighed as her thoughts strayed to him again. The way he ran his hand through his hair and made it even messier. The way his eyes would shine in the moonlight when they would take long forbidden walks back in Hogwarts. The way his lips felt against hers... Ginny shook her head forcefully to try to rid of these thoughts. She knew she needed to get over him, but it was just not working. She needed to do something to distract herself, so she starting trying the classics.
Brushing her hair. Ginny brushed her long red hair a hundred times, and then realized that brushing one's hair just makes you think more. She groaned and threw the brush across the room. If it wasn't so late she would sneak out and play Quidditch, but her mum thought she was sleeping so that wasn't an option.
She decided to let her Pygmy puff out of its cage in hopes it would be entertaining enough to distract her. She opened the cage door, but Arnold just kept sleeping. She sighed. She wished she was as carefree as her strange pet and could just sleep the night away.
Then she thought about how Hermione and Ron got to be alone together for at least a day as they traveled to Australia. They left together the night before to bring her parents back. She was jealous that they got to be with the one they loved. She remembered what Hermione would do whenever she would have an argument, big or small, with Ron. She would always come up into their room and read on her bed.
"Of course!" Ginny said to herself. She practically leapt from her bed and ran over to Hermione's bed, which was in her room because they shared when she was at the Burrow. She ran through Hermione's books, looking for one that looked distracting enough. Unfortunately, most of Hermione's books were textbooks, so Ginny picked the first one that wasn't about school and ended up reading children's stories. She was reading The Tale of the Brothers. She sat with her legs crossed and sat on Hermione's bed, thinking that as long as she was acting like Hermione, she might as well sit on her bed too.
Ginny's eyes flew from her book to the door. Who would be knocking at three in the morning? Thinking she imagined it, Ginny went back to her book.
Then the knock came again, but this time it was louder and more confident than before. Suddenly Ginny was very aware to how she was dressed. She didn't think her mum would be to happy about her just wearing a tank top and short pajama shorts, and she wouldn't be very comfortable having a heart-to-heart conversation with one of her brothers in only these clothes. She was about to change, when the knocking came again. The person outside her door was so persistent, and she wondered whether they would care that she was wearing so little or if they would rather her just open up. With another round of knocking she decided that they wouldn't care.
She opened the door to see Harry potter standing there with his fist raised to knock again. She felt a bit better about being slightly undressed, because he was just wearing a pair of Ron's flannel pants that were far to long for him so they dragged on the floor. Ginny was quite aware of the fact that he also wasn't wearing a shirt. She took a moment to compose herself.
"Harry, what are you doing here?" she said.
Harry opened his mouth to speak, but no sound came out. He tried to speak, he had even planned something to say to her, but he hadn't considered how he would speak if she took if breath away like she was right now. He stood there like an idiot, just starring into her brown eyes.
"I... I can't take this anymore I had to see you," he got out in one breath before he went to her and put his lips on hers.
Ginny's eyes widened in surprise, but she was only in shock for a moment, as she wanted desperately to kiss him back. She pulled him into her room and Harry closed the door with his foot, not wanting to separate his lips from hers. He his hands on her back to pull her to him; wanting to be as close as possible to the girl he had missed so terribly. Her hand was messing up his hair even more than it already was, but she liked it that way.
They broke apart to catch their breath. Ginny slumped onto her bed as she breathed hard and thought about what had just happened. Had he really just kissed her? Or was she just dreaming about what she wanted most?
He leaned up against a wall and looked at her. Her eyes were shinning in the moonlight coming through her window, and her lips were slightly bigger than usual from the force of his. She looked up at him and he saw the love in her eyes. He hoped she saw the love in his too, because he certainly felt it. He went over and sat on her bed.
"Ginny," he began, still a bit breathlessly, "I'm sorry."
"For what?"
"For... For ever letting you go," he said. "Even for a moment. I don't how I went so long without you."
She smiled at him. She swung her legs onto his lap and kissed him again. He fell back onto the bed with the force of her, but they didn't break apart. Her hands were in his hair and on his chest, and his were on her back and behind her neck. His tongue ran across the seam of her lips, asking for her to grant him further access. He didn't need to ask twice. Her long hair was tickling his bare chest, but he didn't care. Nothing seemed to be worth letting go of the feel of her.
Finally she fell down next to him on the bed to catch her breath again. She closed her eyes and smiled. She never would have expected to be with him tonight. She had honestly thought she never would feel his wonderful lips again, never feel his hand in hers, never feel his strong arms pull her close to him, never be able to see his swollen lips and loving eyes after they kissed. She had never been happier to be so wrong. He turned to her and moved his mouth close to her ear.
"I love you so much, Ginny," he whispered. He lightly kissed the spot between her neck and her shoulder. She turned her face towards him and looked into his emerald eyes, deep with emotion.
"I love you, too," she whispered back. He smiled and kissed her again, but more gently this time. Then he got up off her bed and offered her a hand to help her up. They walked to her doorway, and she leaned up against it as she watched him climb the first set of stairs.
"Harry!" she whispered to him. He turned back and she ran into his arms. Her arms wrapped around his neck and his went to her back. Her face was buried into his neck and she began to softly cry.
"Ginny?" Harry said worriedly. She wasn't one to cry, and every time her saw her cry he became nervous.
"I'm sorry," she said. "I just missed you so much and I don't want to loose you ever again."
He smiled and put his hand comforting on the back of her head. "I'm here now, and I won't leave you again."
She drew away from his neck and smiled up at him. She was still beautiful even with a tear stained face. He leaned down and kissed her once more before they said goodnight. They both went back to bed, and they both slept the rest of the night through, knowing that in the morning they could be with the one they loved.
