The sound of the wind cutting past my ears as I ran through the grim alleyway was starting to grate on my nerves. Why was this thing moving so fast? My speed was nothing to laugh at so the fact that this thing was out running me was mind boggling. I was already really annoyed and when that thing let out a disgusting howl, it was the straw that broke the camel's back.
I slipped a finger into the space between the prayer bead bracelet I wore and my wrist, giving it a good tug. As the bracelet popped I shouted for it to command me, "Tsukumogami." The beads stopped there decent to the ground and hovered in midair only for a second before shooting off towards the beast like bullets. I watched in satisfaction as the beast I was chasing was riddled by the make shift bullets. It let out another bone chilling howl and fell to the floor.
I reached behind me a pulled out the gun that was holstered on my waist. I approached the monster carefully with the gun pointed at it. I watched as the thing twitched and squirmed and I almost shot it again but I was stopped by someone calling my name.
"Ty." The voice called. I turned towards the brooding voice and watched the man it came from walk out of the shadows. He was seven inches taller than me which would put him at 6'5" and his hair was obsidian in stark contrast to my completely white hair. He reached into the long trench coat he was wearing and pulled out a small ornate dagger.
It was about the size of a pen but the blade was polished and I could attest to its sharpness from experience. The hilt was red and gold with a black jewel encrusted in it. While it was great to look at, I didn't appreciate the fact that he pulled it out right now.
"Back off Marcos, this is my kill." I said sternly. He didn't make a sound as he started to walk towards me and the creature that still remain on the floor. Its human head was facing me with blue eyes staring intently, and blonde hair splayed around it. The purple spider body was massive and its eight legs were all moving independently at different times.
"You think I trust you to kill this Jorogumo? Why would a yokai kill another yokai? This things is probably your cousin or something." He said, his voice just as brooding as before. I clenched my fist at that and felt the anger surge through me. It pissed me off when they said shit like that, I was only half yokai and I was a part of a yokai extermination force so I don't see why he was doubting me.
I was going to say something to him but the dagger flew out of his hand and into the monsters face, I cringed at the sound that emanated from the creature and glared at Marcos. He was just an ass and to think that he was my partner really annoyed me. Marcos just held his hand out as his dagger flew back to him and then tucked it back into his coat.
I could already tell that this was going to be a long year. I had a new partner that hated me and another side of myself that I needed to keep in check. All of that had to be done while I worked exterminating yokai. My life was sucking at this point but I didn't let it show. I just looked up to the sky and I felt my usually grey left eye get hotter, meaning it changed to match the gold of my right. When I felt the first rain drop I knew my power had worked.
I reached into my pocket and grabbed my vibrating phone and answered it, "WPRS—yokai branch; this is special agent Tyjinn"
