I look out from under my eyelashes to glance at my English teacher, Ms Ferry droning on and on about a 6 month project we are doing this year. Don't get me wrong, I love English and I try super hard in it, but I know my teacher is repeating for the students not listening in the class.
'Now time for the pairs.'
I divert my attention from my book, where I was drawing flowers up and down my page and give her my full focus. I wasn't overly fussed with the partnerships, but it would determine how much work I would be doing. If I got a jock or a cheerleader, I would be doing all the work. But if it was a nerd, they would probably do there part.
'Kate and Caden.'
I look across the room to my grinning best friend, who looks like she was about to die of happiness. Kate is one of my closest friends, and I know that she has had a crush on Caden for years. She has tried so many times to get him to notice her, and I know she is excited to him to finally pay some attention to her. She looks at Caden at wraps her long blonde lock around her finger.
Ms Ferry continues down her list, finally getting down to me.
'Layla and Jayce.'
I see out of my peripheral vision all the girls in the rooms head whip around to look at me. Their glares hit me, and I pull my hair over my face to hid it. They are all jealous of me, because they all know partners with Jayce is like a free hook up card. I look behind me to stare at Jayce, and he is searching around the room for me. He finally finds me and puts his head in his hands.
'Fuck, she isn't even hot.' He muttered.
I glimpse his light brown hair and bright blue eyes, the reason behind his popularity status.
My cheeks burn red, and snap my head to the front.

The bell rings to signal the start of lunch and I gather my things and walk to find Kate.
She is standing at my locker, with my other best friend Michaela.  They both look at me with huge smirks on your faces,
'You are quite possibly the luckiest girl in the world.' Michaela laughs.
'I am so jealous.' Kate groans.
'You got Caden!' I cry. 'He is like second best looking to Jayce. And plus, Jayce really hates me. He will probably make me do all the work while he fucks a girl in the next room.' I laugh.
'He does not hate you!' They say in unison.
'Did you hear what he said after he found out he was partners with me?'
'Well yeah... But he probably just said that because Bella was there.' Michaela points out.
'Sure.' I said, dragging out the word in sarcasm.
Bella is one of the hottest girls in school, and it is no secret that she has a huge crush on Jayce. They hook up heaps at parties, and who knows the amount outside of school.
'Speaking of the devil...' Michaela mutters.
I look up to see Bella and her group walking towards me. Bella was walking in front, with her friends walking smugly behind her.  She stops in front of me, and grips her hand onto my arm.
'Oh hey Layla! Nice to see you. I just wanted to let you know, that I know your partnered with Jayce and all and your probably thinking it's a opportunity to get in his pants...' Her tone of voice suddenly turns icy.
'But it's not.' Her nails dig into my skin, shooting pain up my arm.
Kate suddenly laughs and glares at Bella.
'Your just scared because of how hot Layla that she's going to steal Jayce from you, not like he's yours anyways.'
Bella glares at us all.
'Fuck you losers.' She said with a sneer.
Bella and her posey walk off towards their next class.
'They are such bitches...' I sigh as I bang my fist into my locker.
