Niti read the script. Then she read it again, just to be sure that what she was reading indeed was what she believed it to be. When she woke up this morning she had taken in a breath of fresh air, the midst of the soil and awoke to the enchanting sunlight. However in this moment she felt as though the mesmerising sunlight was replaced with ghastly storms. Storms that were circling in her stomach, making her morning breakfast churn in despair.
Niti's eyes fluttered shut; she took in another shaking breath of air, hoping that when she opened her eyes the script would magically change itself. But nonetheless that doesn't change. She reads it again.
Manik takes a hold of Nandini's face, and his lips ever so slowly descends on her.
Niti reads it again, and again and again, until her eyes slowly starts to see blurred lines. "Why," she murmurs, "Oh god, why me?!" Her voice rising, her breath shaking, her heart drumming with energy and fear.
Nandini wraps her arms around manik's neck and deepens the kiss. Manik's hand tussles into nandini's hair, pulling ever so slightly whist Nandini arches into Manik's lips. Their bodies pushing together, rubbing onto one another in a distort frame.
"No, no, no!" Niti's head dropped into her hands, she took her head side to side whilst she took in the information she had just received. "I can't do this!" she exclaimed.
"What can't you do?"
Niti jumped as she felt a presence beside her. She watched as her best friend and roommate; Barsha, walked into their shared kitchen. Niti's eyes closed shut knowing that her friend's concerned eyes were still looking at her. And Niti took another breath and without looking at Barsha slowly handed her the script.
Silence. She didn't dare look up, she didn't dare try to gauge a reaction from her friend, because right now Niti was shocked to the core, she never felt such a strong reaction towards anything before.
"Oh." Niti heard Barsha's voice loud and clear in a room filled with nothing but silence. It seemed for a moment all the birds had stopped chirping, the disastrous Bombay traffic seem to halt in this exact moment. "It's not that bad?" Niti could hear the slight questioning undertone in Barsha's voice.
"Are you crazy?" Niti's head shot up, her voice going up an octave and there was still that shaking tremor in her voice. "Not that bad?! Not that bad. Barsha, what is good about this? Huh?" Niti looked at her best friend, she could see that slight apologetic smile on her face, but at this point she was too far gone. "How am I supposed to do this? I can't," she paused, "I can't do this, this is crazy, richa is gone mad if she think I can do this."
Nitis leg shook with the confidence and fright, she looked at her best friend in pleading eyes, begging her to make whatever that was on the script disappear. She looked at her best friend as Barsha walked closer to her, her hands landed on Niti's shoulder, slowly clamping down and calming her.
"Look," Barsha said. "It's not a big deal, you've kissed him before, this is not a big deal." She said emphasising the not.
Niti stared at her, as thought she was speaking a whole new language. "I'm sorry, did you forget what happened last time we kissed?" she tried saying, trying to push some sense into her best friend. "Did you miss the drama, because I swear I didn't. I remember every disastrous moment, one after the other. I remember going from friends to strangers in just one moment." Niti said, her hands shaking unable to comprehend what was happening.
Barsha squeezed Niti's shoulder, whilst Niti herself was trembling with energy. "That was last time, now you've gotten to know each other, you've both said countless times how you are both professionals, so this shouldn't be a big deal Niti."
