I stood in the corner of the room. I could hear the wood creaking on the deck from the weight of the person waiting behind the door. Every muscle in my body was tensed up. I held my breath, should they hear me.

Shit, I thought, I haven't seen an actual person in a while. What if it's someone I know? What if they leave and never come back for me? What if it's the police, here to take me away?

Another knock on the door echoed through the old, wooden house. I inched forward, trying to get a glimpse at the person awaiting behind the door.

I can't tell who it is... They don't look too familiar.

I moved forward a bit more. The floor creaked beneath me. It seemed to be the loudest noise I had heard in ages. I held my breath once again, and tightly closed my eyes.

I need to get closer! I need to know who it is! This could be an oppotunity.

I got closer to the window, the figure seemed to get more familiar. I moved closer to the door.

I wish I had one of those peepholes. Maybe I'll buy one if this turns out well.

I reached for the doorknob, it looked miles away. My heart kept beating faster and faster. It was getting difficult to get ahold of the knob, it took all my strength s if there was an invisible forcefeild around the small, metal knob.

I finally reached it when there were another few knocks. This time more impatient them the last. I turned the knob slowly, I dreaded this part so much.

The door opened, my heart practically jumped out of my chest.

Oh my God, I thought.

It was my mother, she had returned from the store.
