Today when I woke up, I wasn't on a raft and everything in my body wasn't screaming at me to reach a safe place and feed my weakening body. I was happier, that was the main difference, and having a happy mindset was crucial not to just giving up.

I swung my legs over the edge of the hammock and hopped out. I didn't even know where I was going so I just walked around, taking my own tour of the place I now called home.

The dirt was cold against my feet and make me scrunch up my toes whenever they lifted off the earth, it was nice to be finally safe. As I wandered I came back across the beach, it seemed so tranquil now, somewhere I would happily lay and watch the days float by following the clouds. But as my feet touched onto the sand a small familiar hand touched my shoulder, as I spun round I saw it was the leader of all these girls.
"Hi! I'm Tessa, remember me? I was with you yesterday in the Infirmary?" Her voice was squeaky with excitement about something, I didn't know what.
"Oh! Yeah I remember you, what's up?"
"Well, today is your first slash second day, sooooo you get an official tour of the Opaque Island!" She replied
"Opaque?" I questioned
"I'll explain on the way!" Her tone dropped slightly but the blissfully happy smile was still plastered on her small face.

There was a short walk from the beach to the kitchen. The small hut was made from clay and had a cozy little thatched roof. Dark palm wood slumped lazily on its hinges from its old age and a small gap in the wall acted a cute little window. As you stepped inside there was a old fashioned black furnace that ran on wood alongside bottles and bottles of water, oils and other packets of stored food and seasonings.
"Wow, for an island kitchen you seem fairly stocked up?" I asked
"Yeah, every once in a while we get a drop box." She looked at me knowingly with a flicker of sadness in her eyes. Soon spotting my blank face she continued,
" a box...? From the skyyy...?" Dragging out the words slowly like I was a retard.
"So a parachute then?" I countered With a smug grin and raised eyebrows.
"Yeah sure, call it what you want dreamer!"
She spun on her heels and walked off before half looking over her shoulder just enough to see the side of her face and the wisps of hair that blew across it as she called for me to stop standing there and follow.

The next place we arrived at was the infirmary.
"We've already been here so this is gonna be cut short, I'm hungry. This is the infirmary blah blah blehhhh hospital, medical shit, needles, care wards, medicines, exceteraaaaa exceteraaaaa... Moving on!"

After that was the shower block and toilets. "These aren't the best..." Tessa's brow creased and while opening the door she leaned back and looked away. Deciding I didn't need a tour of that I said it was okay, and that Id discover it myself later. Next on the list was the infamous drop zone. It was a huge area of the island because they could never predict the landing zone but it was usually in that area.
"What if it's not in that area?" Pointed to the fenced off forest with 'DANGER' painted onto a tree.
Her face dropped and she scuffed the dirt and played with her sleeves.
"Dreamers become Angels..."
I was shocked and should probably have stopped talking but I was too curious and although I was feeling guilty I wanted to know more.
"What people die!?" I blurted out in confusion.
Tessa's eyes paused on the grass before darting up to mine, locking into a firm gaze. Her hand rested on my shoulder as she whispered
"This wasn't a good idea, come on." Neither of us moved for 30 seconds until I found the silence awkward and began back towards the hammocks.
Cutting me off she blurted out quickly,
"I'll send Casey down tomorrow. She can finish the tour." With that, she strode off, leaving me alone by the fence.

HEYYYYY!! Sorry this hasn't been updated for ages but I took triple science so yahhhhhhh. Anyway sorry my chapters are always so short! Let me know if you have any ideas, I'm always running low!
