Junior year is usually the hardest, it's also one of the years that colleges look at the most. My hardest class by far, is Algebra 2. I don't know how I let my mom talk me into taking advanced classes, I mean, my class was full of seniors! I have no friends at all in this class.

There was this one person who did catch my attention though, he was a senior named Cody Bellinger. He was the talk of the school, because he was really good at baseball, and his dad was Clay Bellinger.

Cody sat just a few seats in front of me, I always caught glimpses of him when he would turn around to talk to his friends. His smile was to die for, because of how flashy it was.

It was October, which called for midterm season. In class today, we were working on fixing our errors on our midterms, which meant that I would be seated here for the entire period. Mr. Parker, our math teacher never posted our grades, so there really was no way of knowing what my score was.

"Okay class, as mentioned previously, we are working on fixing our errors to boost our midterm grades. Two students, however passed with flying colors, so as my treat, you are allowed to leave. So Brianne and Cody, you are both dismissed."

I grabbed my bag and walked out of the class very quickly, I was not about to stay there longer than I had to be.

"That was a close one," someone said from behind me. I turned around abruptly and the person bumped into me, causing me to stumble. They reached out to make sure I didn't fall.

"Thanks," I said as I made eye contact with Cody. I had never heard him talk before, his voice was very soft and welcoming, "Hi," I spoke upvery shyly.

"Hi yourself, so that was a close one back there huh?" he said.

"Yeah, I guess so."

"Do you want to get some ice cream to celebrate? Since we supposedly 'passed'. I can drive!" he put air quotes around passed.

"Sure, but my mom did tell me I shouldn't get in a stranger's car," I said shying away.

"Cody. Cody Bellinger, clearly I'm not much of a stranger since we've been in the same math class for the past few months," he sticks his hand out for me to shake. So I reach over to shake his hand and he drags me along to get to his car.

Cody took me to a Coldstone that wasn't too far from our school.

While we're sitting and eating our ice cream, we began talking and immediately found a lot of things that we had in common, we both wanted to go to schools out of state, we both have two siblings, we both love ice cream, and a lot of our interests were lining up. He also talked about his dreams of playing pro ball one day, he was not too picky about the team that he would play for because they were kind enough to sign him.

"Hey, wanna hear a joke?" he spoke up to break our silence.

"Take it away."

"A ham sandwich walks into a bar and orders a beer. The bartender looks at him and says... do you know what he says?" I looked at him hinting that he should tell me because I had no idea. Looking over at him, he looked like he was really proud of this joke.

"Sorry, we don't serve food here," he finished his joke laughing.

I broke out in laughter. I honestly don't know what's funnier, the joke or the fact that Cody really thinks the joke is that funny.

"You're really cute when you laugh," Cody said causing my cheeks to warm up, "Thanks." I said.

He looks at his watch, "Shoot, I didn't realize the time, we should get back so we don't miss the last period," he ran his hand through his hair.
