The room resembled that of a hospital ward. Most furniture was white, and the smell of bleach was pungent and fresh in the air. However, there was an almost eerie white noise, instead of the chatter of various doctors and patients.
Krista took all this in, along with a huge breath. Her body felt numb and cold. Soon enough she managed to stable her breathing pattern. With great caution, Krista propped herself up slightly to get a more detailed view of her confusing surroundings.
To her left was a large machine. It was connected to many twisting thick wires, and then she soon became aware that one wire led to a plastic box fixed around her mouth.
To her right was a simple and plain table, with objects neatly placed upon it. There was a pen, a cup of water, and some paper with writing on it. Krista had to resist the urge to see what the paper said, her curious instincts almost taking over.
In the corner she spotted a chair with a blue cushion. She couldn't help but observe the dent in cushion, suggesting that someone had been sitting there recently.
Krista's mind wandered drowsily, the gentle tick of the clock almost lulling her back into a slumber. She figured that she had at least been sitting there for three hours when a woman opened the door and sauntered in, her shoes clicking.
Her jaw dropped ever so slightly, and her eyes got wider when she saw Krista sitting upright, staring right back at her. The woman rushed to her side, examining the patient.
"I must get the doctor..." She whispered, a smile lighting up her face.
Krista was beyond bemused with the situation, but calmly stayed sitting. It was only a matter of minutes before the clicky-heels woman returned, along with a taller man in a white coat. He approached and began to do various massages and checks on Krista's body. It unsettled her.
"She's up and running alright." The man started smiling too. "Call her family immediately. This is a miracle."

Ymir swirled her cup of lukewarm coffee, a frown painted on her face. She didn't pay much attention to the TV, but just stared from the window. That was until the home phone began to ring loudly. Sighing, she got up to answer the call.
"It's Ymir, who's speaking?"
"Ah, it's Dr Williams from the hospital."
"Is everything okay?"
"It's Miss Lenz. She's, well, awake."
Ymir slammed the phone down, throwing a coat on and slipping into some boots. Hands shaking, she grabbed her car keys and rushed from the door to her small car. Today was finally the day.
She battled the traffic and eventually got to the hospital, quickly talking to reception. Then Ymir made her way up the stairs to the room she had been to every day for the past five months. And then she got to the door. She opened it.
There sat her precious, beautiful Krista, with her sparkling eyes open wide and a small smile on her face. Ymir dropped everything and flew to the bedside. She gripped her friend's cold hands and started to sob uncontrollably.
"Krista!" She cried and cried, relief and joy washing over her and taking over her body. Krista squeezed Ymir's hand back.
"You're here, Krista, I..." She gasped between breaths. Krista smiled more.
"Morning sleepyhead..."
