You awaken after a long night of dreaming. The sun is shining through the window. Bright beams dance on your face. You don't know what time it is, but it feels like late morning. You feel something laying on top of you and realize that Angel is sleeping with her head upon your chest. You also notice that in your sleep your arm has become wrapped around her shoulder and that your head is leaning against her. You are actually quite comfortable, but know what kind of image this would make if someone saw you.
"What the heck?" I wiggle out from underneath Angel, gently laying her head on the floor. I make sure that she isn't roused. "What are you playing at Nathaniel?"
You feel someone staring at you.
I look up.
Standing in front of you is Diamond. She is staring at you with a heartbroken look, her lips are quivering. Her eyes are gleaming with soon to fall tears as a candle flickers behind her.
"Wunderbar. Good morning, Diamond. I'm glad to see that you're up."
"I should have known there was someone else. It seemed too good to be true." A tear trickles down her cheek.
"What are you talking about Diamond?"
"I couldn't believe it. I woke up and saw you with your arm around her." she sniffles.
"Diamond please..."
"I tried not to think about it, but I guess we did just meet. How could I expect any less?" Another tear falls.
"Diamond it's not what you think. This," I motion at Angel. "wasn't anything. I didn't do that."
"Oh, you didn't just do that?" her voice rising "Then who did? Caleb? Paul? The jail guard?"
"You can blame Angel's boyfriend for that, stupid usurper."
"You're her BOYFRIEND! I thought we had something!"
"Diamond, don't..."
"I thought you liked me! I guess I was wrong!"
"Diamond, we never..."
"I guess I'm not as good as my older more beautiful sister!"
"Diamond!"
"I was just living a dream!"
I kiss Diamond.
You kiss for a few seconds, then you let go. She stares at you, completely silent. Shock and joy creep across her lips. Then she kisses you back with intense passion.
"Alright, are you happy now?"
"I knew that you loved me. I just knew it. Deep down inside I always knew." She kisses you again.
I stop kissing and say, "Love, love, such a strong word Nathaniel. Are you sure you want her to say love right away?"
"Who's Nathaniel?" She holds you tightly in her arms and puts her head close to your body.
"Oh, no one special, the Writer, that's all. You can't win, Nathaniel! Get out of my life!"
"Are you okay? Do you need more rest?"
"I'm fine."
"You can stay in my bed with me."
"So immoral, Nathaniel. I thought better of you."
"No I didn't mean it that way Drake! I'm sorry, please just hold me." She hugs even tighter.
"Oh Nathaniel. Always able to weave in and out, in and out."
